Imagine spending your time, money, and energy attending a football match purely to boo a team and wave your middle finger around for social media. Peak derangement. At this point, the Sun and Lion flag is less a symbol of Iranian history and more a symbol of the most unhinged corners of the diaspora.

“This is the time to rise the f**k up people! No more waving placards. F**k this s**t. We rise!” Bristol’s finest potty-mouthed anarchist, Danielle Cooper, on hearing the news that the Palestine Action ban was lawful. Not much enthusiasm back from the pensioners holding placards outside the Royal Courts of Justice as they get arrested for supporting a proscribed organisation. Danielle will, of course, be at the next Palestine National Hate March, placard in hand…

'Will a future government use the powers that you are bringing in to ban people they don't like form social media.' @christopherhope questions Keir Starmer on what his newly announced social media ban means for the future of freedom of speech in the UK.

I have just been sent this footage for an eye witness from the Young Bob incident. She wishes to remain anonymous. She was there and says @YoungBobRB went for a young girl. She said he was racially abusing her then tried to push her. That's when some young lads got involved.

Read that again: “The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s.” That’s because of the proscription of Palestine Action. It is absurd. It is self evidently absurd. And history will damn every last person implicated
Lizzie Dearden@lizziedearden

The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s as a result of the Palestine Action ban 2,800 arrests were made for supporting the group in 6 months -surpassing number of terror suspects detained in previous decade inews.co.uk/news/politics/…

@owenjonesjourno @RRepublic939671 So if someone broke into your house smashed everything up and attacked your mother or father with a sledge hammer and sprayed red paint everywhere you would be ok with that 🙂

@RRepublic939671 1) You mean one activist was convicted of GBH *without intent* after a police officer's spine was fractured. 2) I've already pointed out that the suffragettes killed five people, and injured more, not least with bombs and arson?

This is absolutely insane. The suffragettes used far more extreme tactics than Palestine Action. They planted bombs, burned down private homes and smashed up art galleries. They killed five people! Her outrageous judgement is based on absurd historical ignorance.
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

The Lady Chief Justice: Palestine Action was not a direct action civil disobedience protest group like the suffragettes, but used violence to destroy property The suffragettes burned down country houses & train stations, bombed churches & sent letter bombs to politicians.

There are so many people just standing around, filming or doing nothing as @YoungBobRB is brutally beaten up in the street. What have we become?

This Governments branding of protest as 'terrorism' has seen grandparents arrested and dragged through the courts simply for holding up signs. It's deeply authoritarian when people are speaking out against a genocide and for a free Palestine.

I am simply not prepared to be a bystander when the safety and happiness of our children are at stake. We will ban social media access for under 16s, and give children their childhoods back. Read more about it here: keirstarmer.substack.com/p/giving-child…

It beggars belief that anyone with kids thinks this a bad idea somehow! You either care about children's safety or you don't. My only gripe is that I feel strongly that platforms should be built with a safety-by-design and not feature harmful content in the first place... the likes of Meta have done zero to improve the situation, despite regulation. So needs must in the meantime...
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.
