Oct. 26 - the CBI team spent the day with @bomberoscali119, touring their academy, training facility, & newly-acquired 111-hectare property for research & training. We've agreed to join forces to form a LAC regional #training & #resource center, expanding their #academy in Cali!
On 10/25, CBI and @CREAF_ecologia co-hosted our @COP16Oficial panel "Global Challenges to Sustaining Biodiversity in an Era of Changing Fire Regimes". @BomberosCali119 highlighted the need for fire departments across Colombia, as many forests are burning for the first time.
On Thursday, October 24th, we co-hosted our first COP16 panel discussion. The discussion was fascinating, touching on linear infrastructure and its impact on highly biodiverse regions in the Congo, Suriname, Colombia - to name a few.

CBI was very impressed at how well prepared the city of Cali, #Colombia was for the unprecedented number of #COP16 attendees. From #security to #transportation to the vibrant energy across the city, we're certain we're not the only attendees planning to return to Cali again soon.
On Tuesday, October 22nd, @ConsBio met with @BomberosCali119 to discuss how #fires have changed in the Cali region, and how we might collaborate on developing #research and #education resources to help expand their Academia Nacional de Bomberos de Colombia. It was wonderful!
CBI’s Robin Jones, Dr. Alexandra Syphard, and Karl Peet spent the past two weeks participating in the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Read the reflection written by our Executive Director in our Nov. newsletter!
