Congratulations to Mrs. Miller and her excellent Prostart culinary students! The Iowa Restaurant Association’s Professional Chef Culinary Competition invites just 20 high school students to compete each year, and a whopping 6 of them came from SCCSD this year- great job!

Beautiful knife skills from Carlos. He is a ProStart student who currently works in the restaurant industry, you can tell from his wonderful knife skills!

The coolest part about knife skills today was having three former students (Jesstina, Leah, and Adam) help teach current students. Thanks you three!

Two weeks ago North High lost a beloved teacher, colleague, and friend. Mrs. Storm lit up a room with her bright smile and witty personality. When she passed, we were challenged to do a “Storm of kindness “ in honor of her. We made her family a breakfast and dinner @NHS_SCCSD

ProStart I spent the last two days learning about fire safety and the differences in classes of fires and fire extinguishers. Next class they will put their knowledge to the test to see if they can put out a real fire. Stay tuned! Thanks Mr. Gaul @SCCareerAcademy

Today was nothing short of incredible and it’s because of who you see in the 1st picture. Thank you ProStart students who volunteered time to make this catering for the new construction building such a success. These students put in hours of time helping make all of the food

Super excited about starting the school year out with a great new group of students. They had to draw a star and a chefs knife by only touching their piece of yarn attached to a marker. They did a great job working together. I can’t wait to see their chef skills come to life!

My son Teo and I made it on the front page of the journal supporting some of our favorite food trucks! If you haven’t had a chance to try a food truck this summer, there is still time.

When you go to submit a receipt, look up teacher, and Mrs. Miller will be under North High. It’s a great way to support a local business and support my classroom at the same time. We did it easily with The Don$ today. tagg.today

I spent today at Dallas College in their beautiful culinary facility. I learned how to teach fabrication better, how to use a pizza oven, new recipes, I met amazing chefs from all over America. I can’t wait to bring the knowledge from today back to my classroom this school year!

Can’t wait to share all of my adventures this week. In the Spring I applied for a grant to be able to go to the ProStart PD in Dallas. Fast forward to this week and I am here. I was awarded the grant and can’t wait to bring back all the fun things I learn this week. Stay tuned!
