I'm sorry but this idea that a studio of 800+ people at its peak failed because they made a second game for the first time in 15 years is just stupid beyond all rationale. The actual reason the game failed is because top leadership deliberately mismanaged the studio to inflate its value so they could directly benefit from its acquisition. EVERY problem with D2 that led to this is downstream of that reality.

@D3zron @PureLaith @JohnTitorVT It was. They were struggling. They downscaled content. They introduced the portal. They added tiered weapons to prolong grind to supplement the lack of content. Every change that landed badly came from this.

@PureLaith @JohnTitorVT contrary to popular belief, Destiny 2 was pumping out content when Marathon was at full development speed, so yes it did play a role of course, but not as big as you’re thinking

@JohnTitorVT D2 had its problems. But we can't ignore thst Marathon played a huge role in it. They pulled devs from Destiny and the game caused such a big loss that it's honestly a shock that they're not just shutting down the Destiny servers.

@FarrisOfThemAII Imo the best thing they can do rn for D2 is drop yearly or bi yearly content that serves to tie up loose ends or storylines and give the devs a rest before they try to make a new game. People like to think that devs don’t get tired of writing the same story for like a decade now
