BREAKING: Now President Trump questions how Jack Smith could bring charges against him for something he was already impeached for. He just wrote: “How can Deranged Jack Smith bring a case on January 6th., as ridiculous as it is anyway, when I have already won such a case, and been fully acquitted, in the U.S. Senate? In other words, I was Impeached on this, and WON!!! ELECTION INTERFERENCE & PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT, all rolled up as one. We are truly a Nation In Decline! “I expect NOTHING from the meeting with my lawyers and the Lunatics in the DOJ regarding January 6th. They just want to interfere with the Presidential Election on 2024. It is their new form of CHEATING, but we will WIN !!!” Apparently Trump thinks that Republican Senators should be able to determine his fate rather than the American court system. That's not how justice in America works. Sorry.

👨‍⚖️LAWYER’S REACTION 👉 It appears Donald Trump is referring to the legal concept of Double Jeopardy enshrined in the 5th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Double jeopardy says that no person shall "be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb." It's interpreted to mean that a person cannot be tried twice for the same crime in the same jurisdiction once they have been acquitted or convicted I think Donald Trump is arguing that he was acquitted in the January 13, 2021 House Impeachment and therefore he should not be able to be tried for alleged criminal conduct stemming from the facts of that proceeding. TBH, it is probably a moot point because Jack Smith will not indict Donald Trump for "incitement of insurrection" (the crime alleged in impeachment proceedings). I'm guessing he will bring charges against Donald Trump for something like obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement and conspiracy to cause an insurrection. Even if Jack Smith just brought the single "incitement of insurrection" charge against Trump, Smith could have an argument to get around Double Jeopardy by saying that the US Senate and US District are 2 separate jurisdictions. So, without taking a position on the merits of Jack Smith's case, it seems Donald Trump's Double Jeopardy defense will not fly.

@typesfast Not really. SF carpenters who are employees of a contracting firm make less than software engineers who are employees. And independent contractors make less in carpentry than in software. Have not seen carpenters charge $250/hr.

When I moved to Southern California I signed up for a beach volleyball course with Parks & Rec. During a game in Manhattan Beach I saw a vicious brawl between surfers and cops on the pier. No one else was shocked; they all saw the craft services tent nearby. What a midwesterner.

I was innocently walking on campus one day when I see a bunch of cool cars and a few people dressed in the 40s clothes. I thought a cool student group has a fashion show or something (Berkeley has awesome student groups) Until someone starts yelling at me that I should get out of the way. Turns out I was in the middle of the @OppenheimerFilm movie scene.

@waltmossberg It all makes sense when you realize that his goal is not to make Twitter more successful, or more profitable, or more popular, but rather to destroy its role as a tool of dissent and vibrant democracy. From the point of MBS and the other Saudi investors, Musk’s doing just fine.

@film_girl I’m on my fourth pair. One left in a gym locker room and absconded by bastardly employees from their lost-and-found drawer, one killed by the washing machine, and one left poolside at a resort. Find My has been useless. This fourth pair, though, is a keeper! I can do this.

I already have a replacement pair which I ordered when I discovered that I left them at the hotel ~3 hours ago and promptly asked Grant to pick up from Best Buy.

Welp. After more than 6.5 years and at least six pairs, I finally for real lost my AirPods Pros as a sacrifice to the Taylor Swift concert Gods by leaving them in my hotel. Activated lost mode but they still look to be in use. I sure hope whoever took chokes on something.

@DanGrover @Scobleizer There’s a huge opportunity for 3D movies. The iPad app doesn’t display in 3D. True, the Vision Pro model is not a mass market device. But some 3D content owners and media streamers will get a huge foothold in that market before Vision becomes mainstream.

@Scobleizer On a past product team, foolishly went all in on native Apple Watch app thinking it would be a big paradigm shift. Respect this. It’s an app that plays videos. They’ve been there, done that for VR platforms. There are only so many ways to play videos.

@LeighSilverton @TheRickWilson Some of us believe that it was bought by the Saudis and other oligarchs to stymie opposition groups and those nagging democracy hounds who use Twitter to organize their opposition to rightist regimes Elmo is doing exactly what was intended ... disruption of opposition channels
