FUN FACT: Absolutely NO ONE has blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. Not Trump, not Iran. Iran started a rumor that it had mined the strait, which now looks untrue, & insurance companies refused to cover ships due to the risk. Iran is incapable of a blockade, as the US destroyed its navy. Trump is currently blockading ship traffic to/from IRANIAN PORTS. He's not blocking the strait. No one ever blocked the strait. The American media sucks, & keeps repeating that for some bizarre reason.

Washington DC is on pace for roughly 42 murders this year -- the lowest since at least 1930. Two years ago it had 274. Carjackings are also down (by 44%). What changed: 1) New U.S. Attorney replaced a soft-on-crime predecessor and immediately started actually prosecuting, including seeking the death penalty for the worst offenders. 2) There's more visible law enforcement presence now. Federal law enforcement and the National Guard deployed to cover a 50-year low in local police staffing -- a hole created by city council budget cuts that some estimate will take a decade to fully close. 3) Ended policy of refusing to charge juveniles as an adult, signaling to the youth that there will be consequences for their crimes. The prior admin prosecuted exactly one juvenile for armed carjacking over a decade, so gangs recruited juveniles to steal cars. Arrest-to-offense ratio for carjacking went from 25% to 58% last year.

Re the 7 GOP members of the house who are going to vote on a bill to extend TPS for Haiti, this is a vote for their re-election in their districts. The bill will never get a vote in the Senate, and Trump would veto it even if it did and it passed. The Supreme Court is going to hear the TPS termination cases on 4/29, and I don't think the opinion will be one of the last ones to come out in late June. I expect it will be 7-2 or 8-1, likely on jurisdictional grounds that Congress cut-off the jurisdiction of District Courts to consider the claims raised. The House vote is meaningless.

There is close to a 0% chance of a Haitian TPS extension being passed into law. It heads to the Senate next, where it will likely die. It may not even get a vote, if it does, it will likely fail. If it ever somehow managed to pass the Senate, President Trump would veto it.

🚨 HAPPENING NOW: Mary Moriarity has issued two warrants to arrest two ICE agents for “assault” and is claiming “they can be arrested anywhere in the country.” She is going to start a civil war with these warrants. Minnesota really wants to go to war with the federal government under President Trump. Bring it. The proper federal response needs to happen right NOW. The DOJ under @AGTtactical must immediately move to quash these unconstitutional warrants, open an investigation into Moriarity for obstruction of federal law enforcement, and make it crystal clear that no state or local prosecutor gets to order the arrest of federal agents doing their job.
