According to the Assembly Member for the area, the victim went to the site to get diesel when he was allegedly attacked by security personnel and some Chinese workers at the site. Following the incident, angry community members stormed the galamsey site and set fire to two excavators as well as parts of the site in retaliation. As of now, the Chinese nationals are reported to have fled the area, while tensions remain high.
