The Oscars’ response? AMPAS/Oscar CEO Bill Kramer apparently blocked me on Instagram last night after seeing my post expressing disappointment about the broadcast’s In Memoriam omission of my father. You truly can’t make this stuff up.

So incredibly disappointed and heartbroken that the #Oscars and AMPAS chose not to include my father, David Keighley, and his immeasurable contributions to IMAX and cinema in the In Memoriam segment in the broadcast. I will never forget.

@jack_scarbs66 They have the benefit of a lot of corrie viewers not knowing, which doesn’t make it right. But I suppose business wise, it makes sense to keep him. Morality wise, different story. If this wasn’t a soap and was a Hollywood production then there would be consequences.

@DevskiTweets the violence isn’t the same, you have to remember this report isn’t known by the majority of corrie viewers and doesn’t change how people have viewed it, only a small minority, James did a great job n the story shouldn’t be sacrifice for a past mistake he will obviously regret

@jack_scarbs66 There are thousands of actors who could tell that story without that baggage. stop/recast the storyline wouldn’t “do more harm than good.” If anything, it would show corrie actually takes the subject seriously instead of prioritising entertainment over sensitivity to victims.

@jack_scarbs66 Casting someone with a real-life assault conviction to play the abuser completely undermines that message. A second chance doesn’t automatically mean you’re entitled to every opportunity, especially one that mirrors the exact type of violence you were convicted of.

@jack_scarbs66 The court found it to be an “unprovoked attack” so it doesn’t matter what we think. He was found guilty. In such a sensitive storyline, it’s careless to keep him.
