Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, only about two miles away. And many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. Tomorrow, Sunday, March 22, Rome will welcome 60,000 runners from all over the world for the Rome Marathon. For the first time, a cardinal met the athletes at the Expo Village in Circus Maximus. Cardinal Archbishop Jean-Paul Vesco of Algiers, where Pope Leo will travel to on April 13, will also celebrate Mass for the athletes at 6:00 PM today at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Ara Coeli. He will then run the marathon alongside the other athletes tomorrow morning.
