@ChalkLast0712 And because modern defenses became way better at disguising coverages, when the main reason he used to call it was to help ID coverage

Looking cool pre snap (with shifts, motions, unique formations) is not the goal. Being efficient post snap will always be what offense is about. Do what helps you the most to get to post snap efficiency!

@ChalkLast0712 Listened to an old Coach McKie (couldn’t find his profile to tag) interview with June Junes the other day and he said he moved away from motion in his later years coaching than he did in Hawaii to try and help give a more still picture to the qb (cont.)

@WingTCoachRyan Arguably worse was when Jimmy G did it and threw a pick 6 at the same time

Is Taylen Green Anthony Richardson with more honest assessment (ie. A project QB with freakish athletic traits)?

Watching some 2018 WAZZU film on the treadmill, this Light Grey, Dark Grey combo vs Utah would be just fine without the maroon socks. Don’t like that one bit.

@ChalkLast0712 I’ve heard Coach Leach talk about QBs “keeping their front hip at 11 o’clock” to help them see the full field better as opposed to keeping the hip even with the line of scrimmage

Teach your QBs how to go from frontside to backside and work it constantly. It’s a game changer in the passing game. Resisting it bc it’s hard is lazy & holding you back. Spend the time to teach it. Your passing game will have huge benefits from it.

New Football 301! Chuck and I breakdown our latest mock draft and get into team needs and favorite fits. I also sat down with Heisman Trophy winner and my potential new neighbor in Vegas, Fernando Mendoza! The future 1.01 selection and I discuss the narrative about RPOs, his Indiana decision, and more!

@AREA__57 Need to watch some of that tape, I have 0 knowledge of Briles time in Houston other than the guys that coached under him. I had heard he kind of brought the Air Raid style with him from TTU.

@Dschaar56 Briles’ early days at Houston are essentially copy and paste from what they did at Stephenville

@AREA__57 That’s very true! You can see most of the concepts in those Baylor teams, except the reliance on sprint passes and toss sweeps

@Dschaar56 Honestly, this offense is more “Veer-and-Shoot” than the offense we see today 😂 I don’t know if there’s a better name for it

@AREA__57 If you had to, what would you call that style of offense? It seems to blend several different archetypes.

@Dschaar56 Talked to a couple different coaches about this Stephenville stuff, and I think teams could tear defenses up if they wanted to run what they did back in the 90s

@AREA__57 With all the things you listed, it would be a heck of a redzone package for those teams. You definitely don’t see those offenses now

@Dschaar56 You’re always good for a couple plays a game in the 2010’s Baylor days when they get under-center! They called it “Hammer”

@heaintshhh I think the rollouts really started to decline in the shoot when it was moved primarily to shotgun. Not sure why, but I have some theories.
