@I_no_longercare IMO I think had Tomkins not gone to the NRL and stayed in SL I don’t think it would be a debate in anyone’s eyes. He was that good. In a similar way that it shouldn’t be debated peacock and Roby are SL’s best Hooker and Prop

@DuddleReece I do see where you're coming from, and I'm not saying he was in any way a bad player, I just expected more because everyone else glazes him so much calling him "the best fullback in the league ever", I would dispute that but I've not been here for the full 30 years

@I_no_longercare It is also down to personal preference and club bias. Leeds fans would put Webb ahead of Tomkins (mainly because they hate Tomkins rather than player v player ability) Webb IMO was very good but In an all conquering Leeds side, I don’t think Webb can do the things Tomkins did

@DuddleReece But surely in a sport this is actually quality = quantity no? Would you say that dufty was quality during his time in super league? And yeah I'm aware of the times he's not played for wigan like the 2 seasons in NRL, but idk what he did over there

@I_no_longercare I didn’t watch dufty enough week to week to form a proper opinion but I’d say he had moments but not enough in the big games. Whereas Sam did, whether it was in his earlier more elusive years or in his latter years as an experienced head. He won MOS at both ends of his career

@I_no_longercare Quality over quantity. Sam spent 2 full seasons in the NRL remember and had a tough time with injuries in his second stint at Wigan. Also don’t forget and when he first broke into the team we weren’t as dominant as we haven’t been the last few years
