Congrats to our March 2025 cohort of Gilman Scholars!! They are: (l-r): Jasmine Burks (Junior, Biology major) Jaharah Yahaya (Sophomore, Social Work major) Lindsay Watson (Senior, Homeland Security major) Each of them will be studying in Accra, Ghana during the upcoming J-Term.

Makayla Rankin (Graphic Design major) started her semester abroad at the University of Limerick in Ireland. She is ECSU's first Fund for Education Abroad Scholar, that has granted her full tuition support for her full semester at UL!! We are proud of Makayla! 🇮🇪✈️ #HBCU #ECSU

Yesterday, another one of our Gilman Scholars, Janiah Beach (Senior, Elementary Education major), began her 4-wk study abroad journey. She is studying through the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE), in Yucatán, Mexico. ✈️🇲🇽We are proud of Janiah!! #ECSU #HBCU

Two Gilman Scholars & 1 Gilman alum began their study abroad this week. Nadrya Godwin (Graphic Design major) & Jasmine Jackson (Kinesiology major; Gilman alum) will study for 4 wks in Barcelona, Spain. Quaysan Miles (Junior; Kinesiology) will study in Panama City, Panama. ✈️🇪🇸🇵🇦

The OIP's 2024-2025 Faculty/Staff Cultural Immersion (FSCI) Program was to Dubai, United Arab Emirates for seven days. Thanks to Dr. Kim V. Scott, Associate Director of the OIP, for organizing and leading another successful cultural immersion! ✈️🇦🇪

Two of our amazing students arrived in Monteverde, Costa Rica yesterday to begin their study abroad journeys. Shaniya McGill- (Senior, Psychology major) will study for 6 wks. Adrian Belle-McCloud -(Senior, Digital Media Arts major & Gilman Scholar) will study for 4-wks. #HBCU✈️🇨🇷

Earlier this month, 5 amazing Study Abroad Ambassadors attended the NC Association of International Educators Conference in Greensboro. Two of them (Jasmine Jackson and Jaharah Yahara) served on a panel to discuss, "Culturally Relevant Pedagogy for HBCU Students Studying Abroad."

Congrats, Janiah Beach (Elem. Ed.) on being selected this week as a Gilman-McCain Scholar. We have had 54 students awarded the Gilman Scholarship, but she will be the 1st to study as a Gilman-McCain Scholar. Janiah will study for 4 wks in Yucatan, Mexico this summer. #HBCU🇲🇽✈️
