A big thanks to Malcolm who came along to nursery yesterday to do a Springtime Singalong. The children and staff had a great time joining in with the songs and using the song props. #music

“You have to listen to the rules, I’m a teacher.” SM
“You can’t open that on your own” AH
“That jacket keeps you safe.” MB
“It’s not a toy.” SM
“And then you can build something!” CG
We have been focussing on our safety rules at woodwork. Excellent examples of role modelling and sharing knowledge with younger peers as we explore the early stages of hammering. #lifeskills#finemotorskills#tooltalks
Recently, the children have been exploring new ways to be creative using technology. Using the chatterpics app, we made our drawings talk, as well as books and other objects around nursery. Stay tuned to see how we use this more around nursery! #ICT#collaboration#markmaking
Some children took part in some Helicopter stories. They each made up a story from their imagination and later on in the day acted it out with their peers, deciding who would play each part. R “my story is about dinosaurs. L “ my Dad went on an aeroplane” S“I don’t like the rain”
Using pens we created an outline then added some colour using watercolours.
IC - you do an outline first
JD - the petals are yellow
SM - I did the soil brown
Today we made observational drawings of daffodils, looking closely at the different parts of the plant.
ZB - look at the roots
CG - this bit is the trumpet
IE - I can see 6 petals
Please note that there will be no more Lending Library this term. Please can you return your child’s book and bag as soon as possible to allow us to check through all our books for starting again next term. Thanks.
Some children have been exploring early numeracy using wooden numbers, rods, pencil and paper, singing lots of number songs and counting out using their fingers. K: “look number five same as my fingers five”
N: “I see one, three, five“
L: “one, two, three me”
We have been very busy exploring and investigating in our digging area thanks to @IBT_BuildTimber for supplying us with more top soil. We have been extending our creativity, problem-solving skills, and imaginative thinking developing our social skills.
Some of the children have been using fantastic imagination creating a river, mountains and bridges adding complexity to their structures using very good problem solving skills and extending their knowledge becoming good communicators. @IBT_BuildTimber#Engineering#teamteamwork
We explored our sense of touch, smell and taste through a taste test. We had great discussions using lots of descriptive language. We pulled lots of funny faces which made our friends laugh.
CG “this tastes like lemonade”
CK “it’s onion. It’s a bit spicy”
AW “its a green lemon”
The children began to discuss cars in more detail, using the iPad we looked at car logos. Many children were able to recognise the car brands and identify the cars their family’s drive. LW - Can I find a Volvo, I have a Volvo. RM - Auntie Jen has a BMW
We used cars to drive on the “roads” and shared our knowledge. LW-Can you hear the noise of the car? It’s quiet because it’s electric SC-This is a race car it’s fast ZB-the engine is at the front & boot at the back LW-my cars in the garage it needs to go for an MOT
This week we have continued our interest in roads and mapping outside in the garden. The children used chalk to map out roads, buildings, roundabouts and paths.
IE-my road is going round the corner. SB-this bit goes up the hill. AV-my circle is a roundabout.
KS- this smells so good! IC-my perfume is made with lots of flowers. RM-I’m squashing mine. LW- it smells nice, it’s called beautiful perfume. #usingoursenses#STEM#finemotorskills
While playing in the mud kitchen we were using our imagination and creativity to create some lovely smelling perfumes to take home! We used scissors to snip flowers and herbs crushing, squeezing the juices and mixing them together to make our own scents. #literacy
Some children wanted to play the floor is lava game, we were moving our bodies in different ways listening to instructions following the rules and working together.
PR- this is my favourite game. QC-this is fun! MW- I can jump high! #literacy#teamwork
