Two years ago I tried to launch a "Watch to Earn" experiment on Twitch. No tokens. No hype cycle. Just a simple points system tied to showing up, chatting, gifting subs, all that. People could redeem points and I'd draw them custom art live on stream, then go recreate it in Procreate and mint it for them after. It never fully took off, but the core idea worked. Reward attention instead of draining it. That's why I'm paying attention to all these new creator economy platforms showing up. Same concept, new tech. Everyone is trying to solve the same equation: ✔ fans get rewarded for participating ✔ creators don't have to burn out to earn ✔ ownership doesn't feel like a scam Most of them will fail. That's just reality. But the idea itself isn't going anywhere. We already treat attention like currency online, we just haven't figured out the right system to measure it yet. So when I see things like @thrustdotcom or CCM popping up, I don't just dismiss it as "another cash grab." I see people taking another swing at the same problem I ran into back then. If someone finally builds a version that isn't predatory, doesn't rely on hype waves, and actually respects fans as participants instead of exit liquidity, that's the one that wins. Until then, I'll keep watching the space and remembering that we were already close before the infrastructure even existed.
