(November 16, 2024) Salt Lake City, Utah - Woman knocks out power to 800 U.S. homes after nervous breakdown A young woman from the U.S. left more than 800 homes without power in the town of Salt Lake City (Utah) after entering an electrical substation and began damaging a control panel. Officials from Rocky Mountain Power, the company providing the service, had to cut off the supply for security and to make it easier for the police and a rescue unit to arrest them, local media reported. The young woman, who was wearing a red skirt and sneakers, had climbed over a high-voltage transformer and shouted obscenities at rescuers who were trying to convince her to get off, says Ryan Kent, a witness to the incident, who stopped at the scene to see what was happening. He heard her scream that the world was no longer safe for her or her future children, she says. When the authorities began to surround her with raised platforms to reach her, she began to swing on one of the cables and jump on them as if they were vines. Finally, she was arrested and the agents had to immobilize her using a stun gun and rubber bullets. It is presumed that the woman suffered a nervous breakdown and was transferred to a psychiatric hospital. The electrical service was suspended for about two hours and then restored.
