@NotKirbyMack @FoulTerritoryTV But you’re definitely not wrong about them missing on Painter and Bohm. And Casty. And Garcia. And JT. The list of wasted money is why there was no Ranger money.
English

@ElectionOps @FoulTerritoryTV Valid. The reality is MLB should never have stopped the Phillies Trevor Bauer signing. But who is a better alternative? Wouldn't Ranger be a better sign then keeping Bohm? I mean we already crapped the bed betting on Andrew Painter.
English

@NotKirbyMack @FoulTerritoryTV Trevor Bauer is back in the Mexican League now. If he still had it, he would have a job. The Phillies will use 3 starters in the playoffs with the 4th making maybe 2 starts (LCS, WS, if they get that far). They wanted the flexibility to add at deadline and Ranger was expensive.
English

@NotKirbyMack @FoulTerritoryTV He is 30. He is lefthanded. He got 5 years @ $28M. Yes, the deal looks good today. Let me know if it still looks good. Four years from now.
Phillies are 9-7 in Nola’s starts, so really only one rotation hole. You pay $28M to fill it when we need a 3B, C, RF, and bullpen help?
English

@ElectionOps @FoulTerritoryTV Phil's wouldn't have paid him, he left because he had a better offer. I however am in the camp that Phil's should have paid Ranger. Thus, Phillies should have kept Ranger. You see our horrid pitching issues.
English

@NotKirbyMack @FoulTerritoryTV Ranger chose to leave. He got paid more than he would have anywhere else. He went to a stadium where left-handed ground ball pictures should thrive. The Red Sox appeared to be on the way up. I wish him well, but I don’t feel sorry for him.
English

@FoulTerritoryTV Phillies should have kept Ranger. He looks so unhappy.
English

@h8myteams @TheGoodPhight They did win 3 of Painter’s starts, and 2 of them were among the four good starts you mentioned.
Only 4 guys (min. 5 starts) are averaging less run support than Painter. Walker would be the 5th except he only made 4 starts.
English

@ElectionOps @TheGoodPhight Maybe. But painter had a stretch where he went 5 innings 1 run, 6 innings 2 runs and 6.1 innings and 2 runs and the Phillies scored 1, 5 and 1. So avg 2.33 runs in those 3 and they were kept in those games.
English

@TheGoodPhight Turner, Bohm, Sosa, Marchan, JT. The righties can’t hit lefties either. You could add Schmidt from his prime and he wouldn’t help unless he got help. 🤷♂️
English

@h8myteams @TheGoodPhight Agree. They can’t hit a team’s #5 starter regardless of hand.
Could part of it be they struggle to hit when behind and Painter/Walker/etc. usually dug a hole in the 1st inning and kept digging deeper until they got pulled?
English

@TheGoodPhight They also can’t seemingly hit every 5th day. If my math is correct (painter and Rangel) they are avg 2.27 runs per game when their 5th starter pitches. 7 of last 10 games they’ve scored 1 or less when 5th starter pitches
English

@SarahSorensongs Wait, what? We should respect a woman’s wishes and NOT just shrug and say, “Oh, well.” That’s rich.
The whole point was that SHE voted to take away the rights of other women but kept that right for HERSELF. Her request was NOT about privacy; it was about hypocrisy. 🖕
English

@tarapalmeri She literally asked you not to air that part of the interview. Doesn't matter if she's told it before to others, she asked YOU not to, and the least you could do was to respect her wish. Major disrespect.
English

@marceelias @janet_yackle Were the children sitting on the laps of Dolezal and his friends while they signed the forms? That would be as par for the course as the fake fraud and the manufactured outrage.
English

Dolezal said he and “a number of friends” deliberately submitted mail-in ballot applications with altered signatures — including forms signed by children — and then used the fact that they received ballots to argue that Georgia’s system facilitates fraud. democracydocket.com/news-alerts/gr…
English

@Raiderfrank65 Nola has not been good. The Phillies, however, are 8–7 in his 15 starts. They were 3–11 in Painter’s starts. Nola could still be a serviceable number five pitcher. Overpaid, yes, but serviceable.
English

@Dukeane7070 It wasn’t about dropping Lizardo so much as it was about not having tonight’s spot and Nola’s spot back to back
English

@2JZ_MINI @PhilsTailgate We don’t HAVE two top prospects. Only have two in Top-100 and one is Miller who no one will touch. Other teams (like Dodgers and Rays) have 3-4 prospects in Top-50. And Skubal will want 8 years, 10 if a bidding war develops.
English

@ElectionOps @PhilsTailgate I'd give up 2 top prospects for Skubal if it means we lock him down for 4 years how young is he?
English

@2JZ_MINI @PhilsTailgate 1. Trout hurt again & would cost $55M per w/tax.
2. Wanted guaranteed role we couldn’t offer nor did others.
3. Beeks injured journeyman. Ferguson, sure, but will be expensive. What could we offer?
4. Trade WHAT?
5. Really? The 26th man is what is going to solve the problems?
English

@PhilsTailgate 1. Trade for Trout
2. Should've signed Buehler
3. Jalen Beeks or Caleb Ferguson
4. Trade for Skubal (if no Trout)
5. DFA stubbs for a real utility player

@vagaa_el @insanevideos I am white and old, with a perfect driving and criminal record. The police are not my enemies, just folks I dislike and distrust.
English

@insanevideos Pretty sure he provoked that police reaction but I've no prove🌝
Hope he got his ass locked up for a couple of months.
Police are not your enemies if you're cooperative, whatever your skin color.
English

@brianmpysher They already did. Preston Mattingly took over in 2021. The 2022 draft was the first under his leadership. That draft brought us Crawford, Rincones, and Kerkering, as well as hot prospects McFarlane and Rincon. Too soon to judge the subsequent drafts, but he started with nothing.
English

@kracze 5 years ago, Painter threw 97-98. That was jaw-dropping. The game changed. Every team has 2-3 starters hitting that now and half their relievers too. Now, velocity alone isn’t enough. Need movement and accuracy. Just ask Ken Giles. Painter isn’t a lost cause yet by any measure.
English

@PhilsTailgate @ByRobertMurray An upgrade over Bohm by a lot. But $100M over 4 years (27-30)? Big gamble he doesn’t get old all of a sudden. Would the Giants risk taking Miller?
English

“A rival executive thought that the Philadelphia Phillies make sense for [Matt] Chapman, citing that the team has previously looked for reinforcements in the infield and that Alec Bohm is in the last year of his contract.”

Latest notes: Thoughts on the Giants’ possibilities at the deadline; potential fits for Matt Chapman; how Reid Detmers will draw plenty of interest; an under-the-radar name who will be attractive ahead of August 3. fansided.com/mlb/mlb-inside…
English

@kracze Wood has only pitched 14 innings in four starts at Reading. He could be an opener, I guess, if the Phillies were OK with going with a bullpen game every fifth day. Also, he is not on the 40 man, but I’m sure they can make some kind of a move to rectify that.
English

I tweeted earlier that they should bring up Gage Wood. Radical, yes, and so un- Phillies like but I’d do it. I’m sure they can find somebody slumming in the minors who can pitch to a sub 7.00 ERA, 12.50 ERA in last 4 starts
Jeff Gamber@JeffGamber
@kracze Agree but who is the replacement
English

@SleeperPhillies The better question is what do the Phillies have to trade?
When Buxton was shopped last year, it was a ML-ready pitcher (Abel or Painter), a ML-ready outfielder (Crawford?) AND a maybe Miller. Abel is gone. Painter is less valued. Miller is hurt. 🤷♂️
