Antes de uno señalar a alguien lo debe hacer Palacio este lunes en su malhadada "mañanera", presentando físicamente a la persona que aparece en la ventana, y que ésta pida disculpas. Desde hace 8 años, la calidad del servicio público es deplorable: ineptos, corruptos y vulgares.

Irreverente pero me sacó una carcajada.

He estado buscando un regalo bonito para compartir hoy. Algo sencillo, pero con fondo. Y de repente me encontré con este vídeo. Nada más y nada menos que Michael Caine recitando el poema If de Rudyard Kipling. Y pensé: este es el regalo. No es solo un poema. Es una brújula. Habla de mantener la calma cuando todo alrededor se derrumba, de confiar en uno mismo sin despreciar a los demás, de saber perder sin romperse y ganar sin volverse soberbio. Habla de resistir sin endurecerse, de seguir siendo íntegro cuando sería más fácil rendirse o convertirse en otra cosa. La esencia de If es clara y poderosa: crecer no consiste en tenerlo todo bajo control, sino en cómo te sostienes cuando no lo está. En seguir siendo tú, incluso cuando la vida aprieta. Hoy no encontré un objeto para regalar. Encontré palabras que acompañan. Y a veces, eso es lo más valioso.

Van Gogh’s blossoms 🌸 When Van Gogh arrived in Auvers on 20 May, the town was ‘sunny and covered with flowers,’ with greenery everywhere 🌿. Inspired, he painted gardens, vineyards, and flowering chestnut trees. Some branches had blown off in a storm – for the first painting, Van Gogh placed them in a pale pink vase, which is hard to spot! But it’s there. A few months earlier, he also painted his famous Almond Blossom, set against a similarly bright blue sky. Tonight it finally clicked for me. Neo asks her the classic question: “If you already know what I’m going to do… do I really have a choice?” And she hits him with the line: “You’ve already made the choice. You’re just here to understand why.” For years I thought this meant “there’s no free will.” But that’s not it. Here’s the real insight: Free will doesn’t exist in the moment. It exists in the identity that leads to the moment. The actions you take right now? They’re mostly automatic - shaped by your conditioning, experiences, fears, habits, and past. But the person you’re becoming? That’s where your freedom actually lives. You don’t choose the moment. You choose the man who will meet the moment. Or put in another way: Determinism writes the past. Identity writes the future. Because when your life isn’t where you want it to be, the answer isn’t “make better choices.” The answer is: become the version of yourself who makes better choices automatically. That’s the real red pill.

Buenos días, amigas. Como muchas sabéis, hace ya cerca de dos años que soy el editor responsable de esta colección, y más de ocho que trabajo en su fondo. No suelo hablar de ello por aquí, pero lo cierto es que desde entonces una parte fundamental de mi trabajo ha consistido…
