I will say at least GMM does give lead roles to actors who aren’t trending or have the most social media following. Like they gave all 35+ pairs lead roles in GMM2026. The brands sponsoring those roles is a whole other issue.
Like I’m amazed how many people are misunderstanding what this plot line is showing you. It’s being very transparent how difficult it is to fund projects without brand support, and of course brands prefer to spend money on trending actors or actors with high social media presence. And one way actors can start trending is by doing fan service. GMM didn’t invent that system, it’s how the whole industry works.

@skynaniholyck GMMTV was on the verge of bankruptcy before BL. They learned their lesson the hard way. They will only produce what's in their budget, they won't overspend and will rely on fans when it's possible. What they're doing is the only way to sustain a big company and their actors
