@Elliot_Leach Just the fact that the Special spent most of the runtime having Lance and Andy be enemies. I don't think you should bring back a beloved sitcom for a one-off and then barely give us any of the character dynamic we love. Plus it was too downbeat after their win in the last ep.

Ignoring that final Christmas special (which seemed to fundamentally misunderstand what we all loved about the series), Detectorists would be in my top 10 British comedies of all time. Just a lovely series to spend time with.

Finally finished Detectorists. I’ve enjoyed lots of comedy series over the years but none have made my heart quite so full as this. Every second of it has been a huge, warm hug. This scene with Terry and Shiela absolutely killed me. A moment of simple joy and contentment. 😭
