Let's get one thing clear: the Southern Raiders episode is NOT romantic. It's actually a point AGAINST Zutara. Zuko capitalizes on Katara's grief to deflect her anger for him onto someone else and gain her forgiveness. That's not love and understanding. It's manipulation.

apart from her family, Aang has been shown to be the most important person to Katara. her care for him is written into every episode of ATLA so supporting Kataang's is just respecting Katara's wishes & wanting her in a relationship in which she's loved beyond the universe

@jovememchams Regardless of intentions, Katara used bloodbending. You can't get a bigger sign that the journey was not good for who she is as a character.

@jovememchams The start of that episode was Zuko being frustrated that Katara hadn't forgiven him yet, claimed that it was unfair, didn't even remember he betrayed Katara, then when Katara straight up told him what he did he still went to Sokka and said that he didn't know why Katara was mad

@jovememchams I think it’s important to note that Zuko’s arc 3 episodes before this was him not wanting to rely on anger and hatred to fuel his Firebending anymore, which further contextualizes his enabling Katara’s as personal desire rather than altruism.

The ep literally starts with Katara mad at him and him looking for sokka to want to know why(even tho he betrayed her and almost killed her and his ass forgot) so he offered to help in hopes she would let go of the anger she has for him. Y’all can spin it around all you want😭+
Lara 🏳️‍🌈@jovememchams

Zuko spent his whole life dealing with anger and he thought that was a good way to deal with. He understands her pain/anger and doesn't overstep. He's simply fully supportive her Hate on Zutara all u want but there's no need to create fake scenarios to make Zuko look bad

when #people claim katara didn’t like aang/there was no kataang set up i think of this moment specifically. you seriously cannot believe she platonically suggested a true loves kiss with a blush and look of yearning on her face😭😭😭😭😭😭

aang the supposedly immature 12 year old kid was the first to see past his own pain and loss at the hands of the fire nation, to extend a hand of understanding to son of the firelord his character depth and strength is so underrated
🎧@LeoHntr12

This scene always makes me emotional. The way Aang talks about his friend Kuzon and reveals how he was fire nation is just so powerful. The animators drew Aang very passionately with each delivered line too. While Zuko just sits there and listens to it all.

@Elmo_ui ‘then they shouldn’t have died’ wow. can’t believe the air benders didn’t think about that as they were actively facing a genocide.

@JustinS370 Why would he do that when at this point he genuinely wants to help Aang. Zuko's main goal is her forgiveness and not her closure, but he frames his actions as selfless. A truly selfless person would've been concerned about Katara's clearly unhealthy fixation with revenge.

@Elmo_ui It’s definitely a point as to why Zuko and Katara shouldn’t be lovers but it not manipulation. He wanted to help her in flushing out her grief from losing her mom. If it were manipulation, he would have used that just to gain her trust and capture Aang with less required effort.

If Zuko's intentions were truly about helping Katara get closure, he would've intervened when he saw how much she was spiraling. After all, he of all people should know the cost of letting anger consume you. Instead, he encourages her on an unhealthy path. That leans manipulative
M.Kumar@KumarMayankdee

@Elmo_ui Zuko understands what losing a mother you’re close too is like. He only found out she was potentially alive when he left. He didn’t manipulate anyone. He gave Katara what she needed during that time. Closure. She carried the guilt and pain of that memory.

@quentincoffee You forget how this episode started with 'Its not fair! Everyone else seems to trust me, what's it with you?' His intentions started off as selfish to the point katara had to yell at him. He learns the important lesson at the end
