What an unconscionable law

I personally know a person in his 30s that passed away some years ago, another in his 30s who survived but was very ill. Bacterial meningitis a a very serious illness, arrives quickly and can lead to septicemia. Thankfully vaccination programmes have improved.

Huge thanks to the incredible medical team at Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre for patching me up after yesterday’s I$raeli airstrike. Paramedics, doctors, nurses and support staff here are true heroes — working under relentless pressure, with more than 30 emergency workers killed by I$rael since March 2. Even after the hospital itself was badly damaged in a recent strike, they refuse to abandon their patients and courageously remain in the field.

Today I$rael tried to kill me in a targeted airstrike in southern Lebanon as I was reporting on was the targeting of bridges and the forced displacement of 1 million people, an ethnic cleansing operation on a larger scale than the Nakba I have absolutely no doubt that this was deliberate. Despite claims there were no warnings ahead of the strike and no notifications sent to the Lebanese Army who allowed us to film As we have seen in Gaza they want to silence journalists who document and report their war crimes It is the western powers who provide political and military support for I$rael, arming it to the teeth to carry out genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing here in Lebanon. They are not simply complicit, but active participants and should be held accountable for their actions. But if I$rael thinks today’s strike will silence us and keep us out of the field they are very, very mistaken

My close friend and colleague Steve Sweeney @SweeneySteve is nearly killed by an Israeli strike in Lebanon. Their vehicles are clearly marked as Press. They wear Press markings. He's alive. What more can we say.

Being Irish is growing up with Ted, Dougal and Jack, knowing who keeps their toaster in the cupboard, and who’s got a horse outside. Being Irish is a spice bag after Copper’s, or a chicken fillet roll in the morning, or mammy’s dinner cooked at home. Being Irish is knowing that McGregor is the worst cunt on the planet (but that you can be a good cunt too). Being Irish is knowing you’re probably never going to own a house and the lure of the Australian working tourist visa, the realisation that all your childhood friends now live in Sydney or San Diego. Being Irish is knowing the fear of leaving the immersion on. Most importantly, being Irish is knowing you can go to any city in the world and find a pub filled with your people, because the world truly loves the Irish. Why? I've noticed a huge increase on #facebook of people over-sharing, since content became monetized. Eg. screenshots/videos of arguments with an ex or family member. Most are #vulnerable /experiencing addiction/mental illness or extreme poverty... It's exploitative! Thoughts?
