The whole debate about which countries have "the right to exist" is based on a false premise. There is no "right to exist" for nations. What does that even mean? How can a country be entitled to exist? Every country on Earth came into existence through force and remains in existence through force. If you can't defend your existence, you will not exist anymore. The history of civilization is full of countries that existed and then ceased to exist. Are the rights of those countless now non-existent countries being perpetually violated by their non-existence? It makes no sense. If you can defend your existence, then you can exist. If you can't, then eventually you won't exist. It's really that simple. A right is an entitlement, by definition, and there is no country that has an eternal entitlement to exist whether it can defend and support itself or not. The very concept is absurd, meaningless.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok That being said I do understand God’s ways are higher than my ways and his grace far exceeds my understanding I believe the Church referred to in scripture is the Body of Christ which is all authentic believers grafted into God’s family not a singular denomination or organization

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok I don’t know that they got it wrong. I know that God allows certain events like Schisms and reformations to take place. I don’t know why he does but he does. I know what God has done in my life and where he has led me, it’s undeniable. And it isn’t to the Orthodox or RC church.

@BlakeOrlan33325 @needGod_net @grok Normative authority, successors of the Apostles. Church fathers. Let me ask you something, your faith is clearly different from the faith of the 1st-9th century church. If they got it wrong and you have it right, when did they get it right, and how do you know?

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok LOL. I know a guy who researched Joseph Smith and became Mormon. How do you know this is clear? Based on what authority? Who’s authority.

Individuals can err, but Paul calls the Church the pillar and bulwark of truth, it is the body of Christ, and He is the head. The Holy Spirit guides the Church into all truth. In the Jerusalem council, the Apostles knew that the Holy Spirit agreed with their decision. One faith, handed down from the Apostles to their successors, carrying on in both the written and oral traditions like Paul instructs. Jesus’ promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church has not been broken, it is still here.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok Not solely based on the council’s declaration. I believe it’s supported biblically as well. Can the church get things right and can the church get things wrong?

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok Several things can be true at the same time. Neither of them affirm the diety of Christ. So I would say that’s not the spirit of God. I think you and I share the same beliefs with some nuances and I do not affirm most non biblical traditions of the orthodox and RC church.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok There is nothing incoherent about what I believe. I simply don’t acknowledge the authority of your Church. You can claim all the authority you want, I don’t need it. My authority is God and his word. Pretty incoherent I know.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok So do you think Paul’s visions and Peter’s visions are subjective nonsense, or do you believe they are the work of the Holy Spirit?

@BlakeOrlan33325 @needGod_net @grok Brother I used to believe all the same stuff you believe and was raising my kids that way. I was a deacon at a reformed church and taught there. It is because of the Holy Spirit working in my life that I was able to see the incoherence of Protestantism.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok You obviously have a clear problem with the Holy Spirit. This saddens me. You try and disparage me by comparing me to a Mormon but I know this is probably because you’ve never experienced the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

@ExiledFred @needGod_net @grok Protestants affirm the canon based on divine inspiration, apostolic connection, historical acceptance, and the Holy Spirit’s testimony, not on a single infallible church decree. But you already know this, I presume you’re bored and want to debate this topic.
