My dear fellow Nigerians, Today, as I clock another year in the journey of life, I'm filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity given me to serve this great nation. I want to take this moment to thank Nigerians for their messages, show of love and prayers on the occasion of my 74th birthday. I thank all our citizens for their patriotism, solidarity and support for our administration. To those who have taken space in newspapers or paid for air time on radio and television to wish me well, I thank you immensely. I must thank my wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind and loving words. I also thank Vice President Kashim Shettima for all he said about me. Consistent with my tradition over the years to mark my birthday in line with the mood of the nation each year, I resolved to also observe this year's birthday low key. As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we've faced since we initiated our reforms. I'm glad that our sacrifices have not been in vain as we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel, despite the temporary setback caused by ongoing Middle East crisis. The credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me, our Renewed Hope team and to our government. We achieved the gains together. As we march towards the third anniversary of our administration, it is my deepest conviction that we shall succeed in building a brighter future for our citizens and future generations. We are determined to confront some of the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome. Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa. Thank you all, and happy 74th birthday to me! PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENT TINUBU CONSTITUTES INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE FOR STATE BURIAL OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT NEW DATE FOR THE SPECIAL FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL SESSION IN HONOUR OF PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO BE ANNOUNCED   The special Federal Executive Council session on Tuesday in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari will no longer be held as announced earlier, given the state funeral in his hometown, Daura, on the same day.   In addition, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, a public holiday in honour of the departed Nigerian leader.   The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will announce a new date after the funeral proceedings.   President Tinubu called for the special FEC session to honour his predecessor for his invaluable contributions to our country.   The remains of the former Nigerian leader will arrive from London tomorrow by noon, after which he will be committed to Mother Earth in his home town, in accordance with Islamic rites.   President Buhari died on Sunday in a London Clinic after a prolonged illness.   President Tinubu declared a national mourning for seven days, with flags at half-staff.   He also directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to join the Buhari family in London to condole with the family and bring the former President's remains back home.   Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) July 14, 2025

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE President Tinubu announces President Buhari's passing, directs VP Shettima, Chief of staff Gbajabiamila to the UK to accompany body back home President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the passing of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari. President Buhari died today in London at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness. President Tinubu has spoken with Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former President's widow and offered his deep condolences. President Tinubu has also directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari's body back to Nigeria. Former President Buhari was twice elected Nigeria's President in 2015 and 2023. He also served as military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985. One year in Office. How have I fared?

As I visited Borno state today, my heart went out to all those affected by the recent floods. I extended my deepest sympathies to those who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods in this devastating catastrophe. To the displaced persons, I understand the immense challenges you are facing, and I admire your strength, courage, and determination amid such hardship. Rest assured, your government is committed to alleviating your suffering. Your government will continue to offer support and relief as we come together to rebuild lives and restore hope as swiftly as possible. I express my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, His Royal Majesty, The Shehu of Borno, and all traditional leaders, alongside our emergency response and humanitarian agencies, local partners, NGOs, CSOs, and Corporate Organizations for their exceptional leadership, unwavering support, and impactful intervention. Your dedication and contributions are truly invaluable and deeply appreciated. I have also directed government agencies charged with humanitarian responses to strengthen coordination and ongoing emergency response. To this end, we have announced the immediate establishment of a Disaster Relief Fund with an initial seed capital from the Federal government to aid in alleviating the impact of this catastrophe. I urge the private sector to match or even exceed the Federal Government’s commitment to this fund, and I appeal for increased global collaboration from our international partners. To the good people of Borno, many of whom I met today during my visit, your indomitable spirit and resilience in the face of adversity deeply touches me. Please know that your government and the Nigerian people stand with you in solidarity. Borno shall once again rise above this tragedy, and together, we will OVERCOME.

My fellow Nigerians, Today, I address you with a sense of responsibility, as we navigate through these times. The protests, which turned violent in some parts of our nation, have caused unimaginable pain and loss, particularly to the families of those who have tragically lost their lives. Our nation’s resources are stretched thin as we rebuild what has been destroyed. As your President, I am committed to ensuring public order and protecting the lives and property of every Nigerian. We must come together, suspending further protests, and embrace dialogue for the sake of our nation’s unity and progress. Despite the challenges, our government is making significant strides. We have doubled government revenues by blocking leakages and introducing automation, reduced debt service, and launched major infrastructure projects. Initiatives like the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, the MSME Hubs, and the Renewed Hope City and Estate projects aim to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians. To drive down the cost of food and medicines, I have ordered the suspension of duties on critical food items and medical supplies for the next six months, in the first instance, while I can also confirm to you that billions of Naira worth of tractors and planting equipment purchased from US, Brazil and Belarus, are already on the way to our country. We have also shown our commitment to the youth with programs like the student loan scheme and the Digital and Creative Enterprises initiative, which will create millions of jobs. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come. Forward Ever, Backward Never!
