Every year a person who has made a great contribution to the field of computer science are awarded the Turing Award. The Turing Award is often referred to as the computer science equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Turing's research is still widely used today! 3/3

In 1952 Turing was found guilty of being a homosexual, which was a crime in Britain at the time and was listed as a criminal until 2013 where he received a royal pardon. This lead to many more men who has also been found guilty to be pardoned by 2016. 2/3

1st day of #LGBTHM21 it's only natural that in Computing we celebrate Alan Turing! He made major contributions in mathematics, computer science, artificial intelligence and helped break the enigma code in WWII at Bletchley Park. 1/3
