Since I got into light weight mice one brand has always stood out as being the “High end” best of the best and that was finalmouse. They had a few drops that I was close to biting the bullet on buying but I never ended up getting one either due to the color just not being what i wanted or not being able to buy a limited drop faster than some people cause I had the obligation of being clocked in at work.
When they announced the sakura my schedule at work had just changed and allowed me to be off on the day that the sakura was dropped. I took advantage of my new schedule change and purchased it. It took roughly 4 business days from the time i bought the mouse to the time i received it which i have heard is a huge improvement from the way they used to handle drops.
Upon opening the box you really dont get much. a nice foam insert to protect the mouse, a cable, the dongle, and a really beautiful cherry blossom and gold color scheme on the sakura.
The mouse is very light weight, although it did end up coming in a little heavier than advertised but that is just the name of the game with some of these mice. The clicks feel solid, the side buttons are beefy and responsive. The quality control does seem to be a little hit or miss, at least on the batch I have using it on glass it creaks with a little down force towards the back where on my unit it does have a tiny bit of a gap between the shell. I don't get that creaking noise on cloth but it did make me at least contact final mouse support about it. In use i didn't have many issues other than some slight annoyances with the software not letting you remap to keyboard buttons without setting a recording of some sort, and the worst offender for me the scroll wheel, although the notches and the wheel itself feel solid i would have some weird issues where it would get stuck in between the notches in a scroll and it would move over to the next notch causing missed inputs or weapon switches in some games and that annoyed me. They did offer a solution of using the tournament scroll feature in their software but I have other mice with the same encoder that do not give me this trouble in games, so I feel a little weird having this feature be the “solution” they offered me.
The size and shape of the mouse are incredible. They fit my hand about as well as the arbiter Akitsu I own. It is a bit tapered off more towards the mouse clicks but it feels very similar in hand. The only issues I have with the build are the previously mentioned gap at the back of the shell of my unit, and the side buttons, as beefy as they are, are a bit too far forward for what my normal mousing positioning on a mouse of that size would enjoy. I noticed within the time of me using the ulx sakura across multiple mousepads and surfaces that I could not find a comfortable way for me to reach my thumb over to the side buttons without completely rearranging my grip. Ultimately the uncomfortable positioning to me for the ulx side buttons is enough to warrant not using it in my daily use. The mouse itself is awesome but with the small inconveniences i have it is enough to just swap to a mouse i do enjoy using both software and feel wise like my arbiter akitsu, which is a bit disappointing as someone who thought it would be the end all be all some people make it out to be.
The final mouse ULX sakura unfortunately will not stay on my desk after my time using it :(
