You really have to love what you do. Been doing music all my life & took it seriously 6 years ago & now just starting to see the fruits of my labor. Trust me, keep going! It’s ok to take breaks when your mental isn’t quite there, take some time to yourself, spend it with family, do other things but just don’t quit. I’ve been on the brink of quitting many times but I always seem to come out on the other side of it. It’ll start to pay off eventually. I know my time to be a full time creative is coming I can feel it

It helps to have a rundown of your company’s (yes even if you’re a single person freelancer) expenses per year with a breakdown of how you justify the amount of your billable hours. It gives the customer some perspective and offers transparency into everything you are doing for the amount you charge. This also gives them some peace of mind that they aren’t being charged an arbitrary amount

Pro tip: If you want to make more money, charge more for your time. It’s not really that simple—oh wait, yes it is.

As someone who spent a few years each on -Amazon music -Apple Music -pandora -Spotify I can say that personally I feel I have the best luck discovering new music that I actually vibe with on Spotify. I know there are reasons for creators to think of them as bastards; as a consumer they reign supreme My opinion based on experience anyway 🤷‍♂️

I pay for TIDAL’s family plan. My kids used it for a while. They recently switched to ad-supported Spotify (free) because “it’s better.” For all intents and purposes, TIDAL is also free (for them). Their reasons: Spotify has better recommendations and more music from YouTube.
