Dr. Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh whenever he has a chance keeps saying it’s the EFF’s loss if we do not want to do platforms like podcasts. It puzzles me every time he says that because he seems to be under the impression that not doing HIS podcast, means we don’t do podcasts. The EFF does podcasts, the EFF runs a podcast (despite his routine swipes at it) we just don’t do his podcast. This has nothing to do with whether we watch it or not either. We never declared to anyone anywhere that it must not be watched, we are just exercising our right not to come. That is another thing he does, he insinuates that his podcast is “thriving” in spite of the EFF, as if the EFF is interested in destroying him. The EFF could not be bothered whether it does well or not, we just decided not to come and he routinely makes snide remarks as if we are in a war with him or something. We are in a war with capital, not some childish attempt at a back and forth with a podcast host.

Another thing we must not allow from the media, in addition to them mobilising so-called analysts to peddle negative perceptions about the EFF, is them trying to box the EFF into constant dialogue about foreign nationals and illegal immigration. It is a recycled trap, which frames the EFF as supporting illegal immigration, when it is very clear we do not. Every election, popular media peddles this in interviews, and we must simply refuse to engage in an attempt to discredit the EFF with misconceptions. They must talk to the Action SA anarchists and tribalists who tried to burn East London, who are lying to South African people for votes when they know a ward councillor which is who you vote for in Local Government Elections, does not have any role to play in border control or illegal immigration. The media must ask the political parties who kill people then lie about doing drug busts, yet cannot show us the drugs, they must ask the political parties who burn SA’n taxis and businesses trying to seduce voters, they must ask the political parties who say “shangaan suka endleleni sokushaya” - what will a ward councillor do about illegal immigration and border control? What will a Mayor do about border control and immigration? Is border control and immigration within the competency of a Mayor and Councillor? Think before you vote for liars and leave us out of nonsense.

We are not interested in coming, it’s as simple as that. Your premise was an insinuation that we cannot claim to be fighting capital and still attend media platforms owned by capital, but not yours. We can, and to illustrate the logic of that, you and I are perfect case studies as activists against white supremacy in Ivy League institutions. The EFF has done Penuel, Mac G, King David Podcast and many more, we will continue to do so. We prefer not to come to your podcast, simple as. The passive aggressive commentary you routinely make about this choice is just not necessary.
