If Bain is still there for the Dolphins and they don't pick him they need to fold up shop.

@charlescwcooke Not sure why the NYT hasn't already given him his own column in the paper? Maybe put him on the editorial board?

@JakeSherman Trump was smart enough to get elected President twice - like him or not. The hate he generates is scary - you don't have to agree with him you can vote against everything he proposes. Jeffries was put into the Speaker's chair by Pelosi.

JEFFRIES says he’s happy to debate Trump any time anywhere. He said Trump is the “dumbest” president ever.

@JakeSherman It would not have mattered. Fairfax was going to deliver the number needed - that's why they are the last to report. It's an unusual coincidence that is a pattern in Democratic states - let's see if this vote stands on appeal

There are a lot of Republicans in Washington tonight wondering why national GOP political organizations didnt spend more aggressively in Virginia.

NBC News just changed "call" on Virginia redistricting from "too early to call" to "too close to call." All coming down to Fairfax. If Fairfax votes like the rest of NoVa, would expect Yes to win narrowly.

Pastor and author Tim Keller writes, “Love without truth is sentimentality; it supports and affirms us but keeps us in denial about our flaws. Truth without love is harshness; it gives us information but in such a way that we cannot really hear it.” If you have experienced the latter, I’m sorry. But I’m equally sorry if you’ve only experienced the former. Sentimentality might feel good. After all, everyone wants to be affirmed and supported. But this is equally dangerous, because it puts feelings above truth. No, truth and love must be presented together. I’m so sorry for any Christian who would mistakenly give you one without the other.

Watched the French-Stuckey debate. My main takeaway: The whole debate centered upon a truth-emotion continuum. I think Allie Beth came out ahead for one main reason that colors every issue debated: She indexes her understanding of emotion and empathy on a biblical axis, whereas French elevates emotion and empathy to a disproportionate degree. The consequence is to unmoor emotion from truth. There's simply a difference in rhetorical strategy: Stuckey focuses more on logos; French on pathos. Along those lines, another reason I think Allie Beth had the stronger hand is that she refuses to play the game of pitting love against truth (1 Cor. 13:6; Eph. 4:15). She's no less interested in kindness or empathy, but properly indexed by Scripture. French's focus on catering to emotional equilibrium (and thus hewing to progressive niceties) requires him to blur biblical categories. Biblical ethics requires both logos and pathos, but our loves must be ordered and governed with a proper foundation. And notably, French's empathy tends in one direction, toward those to his left. In short, Allie Beth focused on objectivity, reason, and right and wrong as the grounds of what constitutes love and kindness, whereas French's instinct is to defer to emotion and aesthetics.

Thomas Sowell gets it: He's 94 years old and has never held political office, never had a viral moment, never begged for your attention. He just wrote 30 books, spent 50 years dismantling bad ideas with data, and let the work speak. No green room. No cable news contract. No ideology to sell you. While academics were chasing grants and politicians were chasing polls, Sowell was in the library proving them all wrong. The most dangerous intellectual in America isn't the loudest one. It's the one who doesn't need you to agree with him.

The first big story of my career was reporting on Chris Matthews repeatedly sexually harassing staff and nothing happened to him until years later when a woman wrote for GQ that he sexually harassed her so maybe the problem is that leftist media ignore victims when they don’t tell the “right” outlets what happened to them
Bethany 貝書穎@BethanyAllenEbr

What we've witnessed here is a years-long, catastrophic failure of conservative media to demonstrate to Democratic staffers that they are fair and professional news outlets who can be trusted with sensitive information. Fox News should have been all over Swalwell's sexual misconduct years ago. It wasn't.

Last year, David French received backlash for calling his trans-identified male colleague, “she.” In 2018, he’d written that calling a man by female pronouns is a lie he couldn’t participate in. I asked him about this seeming change. “Do you equate calling a man who identifies as a woman “he” as being unkind?” French: “I don’t see the value in saying something that I know and they know is going to be hurtful to them. It’s just normal, complete politeness and manners.”

@gilduran76 Everything today - particularly on social media it seems - is about fascism (which is never really defined) and a "war on democracy". Is it that consultants tell clients if they use these "buzz words" their products will sell?

@GregS1716 I only push my own point of view and I just call em like I see em. If there is evidence to support optimism, I don’t see it. So far it’s been a strategic mess and a worldwide unforced error of massive proportions.

“President Trump would like the war to be over soon. He’s clearly signaling he wants the war to be over soon. But the Iranians have a different strategy. Their strategy is to stretch this out as long as possible. Their strategy is to inflict as much pain on the U.S. and the world economy as possible. And that’s why Trump’s strategy of blockading their blockade really doesn’t make any sense when you think about it. They’re going to blockade the Strait, so we’re going to blockade the Strait to counter their blockade of the Strait? It’s a recipe for continued stalemate.”

@DOBrienATL When I saw the Braves signed Smith this off season I thought Alex was nuts. I'd followed Smith through his Nats career which was dismal at best then the Red Sox and Giants. This is miraculous

@JakeSherman Nothing will happen to Schiff - there's absolutely nobody in the media who has an appetite to chase him. People have known the type of guy Schiff is and they've done zilch. Why should it be any different now?
