i really dont think its that radical of an idea that anyone who’s working full-time should be able to live comfortably. even if it is a fast food job or something. makes my blood boil when people say they should “just get a better paying job”

Yea self driving trucks is vaporware that's been threatened for years. If you think the majority of the job is driving the truck than you know nothing. And if you knew anything you'd know the industry is already in tatters from Indian and Russian freight scammers; that's why I don't move freight anymore. But nice try though.

@GreywolfLuke @2014jettasedan I look forward to the day rates go down more in the trucking industry Luke. Self driving trucks coming in too. Pretty soon trucking won't be a self sustaining gig. When that happens Luke you better pull yourself up by the boot straps don't even think about applying for benefits.

I mean the PayPal guy made Tesla and SpaceX so is it that far fetched that a billionaire real estate guy throws together a no brainer pickup? It's not an EV, you don't need years of R&D to reinvent a pickup that was perfected 20 years ago, just someone to make a strong appealing looking body and structurally sound frame, every component beside frame and body can be off he shelf, build one factory to make the frames and bodies, have another building to assembly line them together with all the outsourced components. This is honestly really doable.

Many people with autism and ADHD absolutely cannot work a 40 hour work week without serious detriment to ourselves. It's unbelievably hard and I hate being treated like whiny kids. This shit is a fucking disability bro, we are not designed to meet the expectations of capitalism.

@pemilo123 I can’t wait til this psychobabble bullshit era is over. I’ve been diagnosed with all this bullshit. Everyone is “divergent”. That’s called being an individual. Something anti-capitalists don’t get because they’re cowards and they’re weak.

Clowns like you are why I'd rather go the Kurt Cobain route than ever seek mental health treatment for the conditions i may or may not have. Cause I'd rather struggle through life than get lumped in with lazy POS that blame their problems on "capitalism" like they'd be better off breaking rocks in a gulag. People with real problems avoid treatment because you whiny MFs make everyone who struggles look bad. And people open about their issues get discriminated against cause assholes like you make everyone think being ND makes you worthless as an employee. When reality is Autistic MFs can be some of the hardest working people out there and valuable team members but you wanna hold them down cause you don't wanna work. FN

Yea bro EVs have been pushed HARD and the MOMENT governments stopped pushing them as hard so many dropped out of production cause nobody was buying them without massive subsidies to nudge them. Scout Motors is doing an EREV with a gas motor and that option is the vast majority or pre-orders cause BEVs are expensive throwaway cars that work great if you 1. Live in a warm climate 2. Have a garage to park in and charge at night. 3. Live in a metropolitan area 4. Never travel more than a few hours from home 5. Don't plan to keep your car past warranty Don't meet all of those criteria? Better off with an EREV or ICE. And the market bears this out with BEVs only topping out at like 7% of sales after over a decade of being heavily subsidized and artificially pushed. Scout and Edison are the actual sustainable future of EV ownership. Slate will be popular with fleet sales that the ford Maverick currently dominates. And if you paid any attention you'd know all of Slate's hype is from it being a small affordable pickup, they almost downplay it being an EV at all. If this REO actually comes to fruition it'll get a LOT of fleet sales for utility companies, municipalities, industrial applications, forestry, mining, government installation maintenance, basically every industry that currently is using 4wd mavericks and side by sides for jobsite utility vehicles. and that is not an insignificant market, especially government contracts. GM and Ram kept manual locks and windows as truck options into the 2010s specifically for government contracts. Hell I'd bet money that Slate has an EREV option within 2 years of production starting. Almost don't want them to cause that would take some of the wind out of REOs sails but I know Slate has to be looking at the EREV demand with Scout and thinking hard about it.

My truck has manual locks and windows, it’s not that great. Also drove a manual transmission for the majority of my life, quite happy to have no transmission at all in my DD now. You can’t isolate the hype about the slate from the fact that it is an EV. I got to drive the electric Smart, and the gas version before. The gas version was absolute garbage. The electric was actually kind of fun and zippy. Plus the appliance-like ownership experience. No maintenance, smog checks, and a full tank every morning.

We are going to see a slew of people grifting off the popular belief that automakers refuse to make a cheap, simple “all manual” vehicle because they are stupid, and out of touch with the market. The reality is, buyers in developed countries like the US, consistently opt for larger vehicles with premium comfort and tech features. This usually results in poor sales for small, bare-bones models. Along with a vanishingly small profit margin, these cars just aren’t worth building. There is no new car for sale under $20k in the US. Nearly every subcompact has been cancelled. Spark, Fit, Fiesta, Versa, Yaris, Mirage - all gone. People seeking affordable options often don’t buy new. Many stick to the used market, where nicer, pre-owned cars offer better value. For example: Ford knows how to make a cheap car. You could buy a Figo for $5k in India. It didn’t meet safety and emission standards in the US. The Figo is now cancelled as well, and Ford exited India entirely. The cheapest truck for sale in the US is the Maverick, which starts at $29K, while the Tacoma, Frontier and Colorado start in the low to mid 30s. All with extreme economies of scale behind them. The idea that a realtor in Texas is going to boot strap an 80s mini truck to market, make it safe, $10k cheaper than the rest, and survive long term to provide parts and warranty, certainly seems far fetched. Odds are, you’ll be lucky to get your reservation refunded in a few years.

They already broke the deal. Everyone with a pulse and 3 functioning brain cells (including orange man) knew they'd break it. So now next time they crawl back to the negotiating table we get to throw in their face that they rejected a favorable deal so each subsequent negotiation is going to get less favorable. At least that's what it feels like this me. Feels like basic negotiation tactics. But it's the Middle East and jew jersey is involved so nobody is capable of rational thought

Oh so you acknowledge that you're attending a church that split off from Catholicism? You acknowledge that anglosphere Protestantism came into being because king Henry the 8th wanted another divorce to try again for a son with a new wife and the Catholic Church wouldn't grant him additional divorces? Germanic high church Lutherans at least have an argument for legitimacy because it was founded over a genuine theological argument. After that Protestantism rapidly became a means for governments to cease control over religious institutions and ensure the churches never challenged state authority. Like there's a reason Protestantism is receding across the globe as Catholicism is growing. Information has never been more accessible and every day people are realizing that going to a church founded by the apostles makes more sense that a church founded by a king

@WiggerMaggot I think humor requires an acknowledgement of reality and that is why leftist memes fall flat because fundamentally so much of leftism is denying reality on its face (like believing men can be women)

One reason why the left just cannot meme is because they seem to lack the ability to understand WHY certain jokes exist & thus also don’t understand why the joke doesn’t work when they just retell it but with the roles flipped 90% of their jokes are just rebuttals to other jokes

honestly I think Slate is gonna make a killing in fleet sales, tons of warehouses and jobsites have ford Mavericks and side by sides that rarely leave the property for security and errands purposes so Slate fits well there. what you look to bring to market though will likely eat Slate's lunch on remote jobsites, mines, agricultural, utility, and individual sales in general because there is a gaping hole in the market for an offroad capable compact-midsize pickup with a full bed. so much of a gaping hole that custom jeep conversations to make the Gladiator into a 2 door with a 7' bed are a thing being marketed at industries now.

I've never met a man (myself included) that cares about education in a partner. We'd rather be with a minimum wage high school dropout that treated us well than a PHD that treated us like shit. While I have lovely female friends that are highly educated, even they will admit there is a correlation developing between higher education and bad attitude. So it's a case by case basis for me. You have a medical PHD? that's awesome! you have a masters in grievance studies? We're splitting the bill.
