@LancasterUni @gateshead The results indicated that restricting new fast-food outlets has been associated with fewer overweight children in Gateshead. In comparison to other areas in the North East which did not make a similar policy change, some parts of Gateshead saw a 4.8% drop in childhood obesity.

Recently our team were involved in a study by @LancasterUni to learn if limiting new fast-food outlets was reducing childhood obesity in our borough. Researchers looked at a change made by @gateshead in 2015 to stop any property not fast-food-related being turned into a takeaway

We’re off to Antarctica (sort of!) ❄ The British Antarctic Survey’s ship ‘RRS Sir David Attenborough’ recently set off for a research trip to Antarctica, and our name was included in the time capsule onboard.
