Year 5 visited Boston Spa Academy for the day to see what life is going to be like as a High School pupil. We had a great day. We travelled there on the bus and then had a Maths, PE, Music and Drama lesson as well as lunch in the canteen before returning to Harewood.

Class 2 took part in a Polar workshop linked to their Geography learning. Thank you to Mr Harrison who led this. He works for a company who have employees working in the polar regions. The class even had a Teams call with a colleague who is currently working in Antarctica.

School had the pleasure of welcoming the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds. They spent time in each class helping us learn about the role of Mayor and local democracy. The Mayor was accompanied on the visit by Sienna who is this year's Leeds Children's Mayor.

Our Advent season started with a trip to St George's Church to see their nativity production and then yesterday we decorated our school tree. Each child in school made a decoration and placed it on the tree before we turned on the lights.

Today Class 1 and Sienna from Class 4, who is the Leeds Children's Mayor this year, visited the Harewood War Memorial and laid a wreath on behalf of school prior to the Remembrance Day events this coming weekend. Our Church School Ambassadors have also been selling poppies.

We entered a basketball team into a local tournament at Boston Spa Academy this week. The team were great ambassadors for our school and played very well. We came 3rd, which was an amazing result.

Congratulations Sienna. Last night it was announced that Sienna had been elected as the Leeds Children's Mayor for 2025-26. We are very proud of her and all the work she put in to get to this point. Amazing!

Last week was Harvest Festival week in school. We made a food collection in support of St George's Crypt in Leeds and celebrated the good things we have. On Friday classes gave families a presentation on their learning about Harvest.

We would like to welcome everyone back for the start of the new school year as well as saying hello to our wonderful new reception class and their families.

Our Summer Concert celebrating our musicians and singers was held on our school field. Individual musicians performed and each class sang for parents.

Class 4 put on a performance of Romeo and Juliet for their families. This was partly delivered in Italian as a link to our Modern Foreign Language work. The performance was amazing with dramatic acting and fabulous costumes. (More images are available on our school website)

Today is our PTA Summer Fair starting at 3.15pm. If you are in the area, please come and join us.

Year 6 had a great couple of days doing Bikeability. Enjoyable sessions with useful skills and road safety knowledge.

A team pf pupils from Year 5 entered a Maths competition hosted by GSAL. After a morning of problem solving and quick fire questions we came 5th out of 20 schools from round Leeds and North Yorkshire. Well done.

Our KS2 Drama Den performed Bugsy Malone at Seven Arts Theatre yesterday. It was an amazing performance with great acting, singing and lots of mess!

We celebrated VE Day 80 by wearing red, white and blue and with a special Collective Worship where we shared our learning with our families and friends.

As part of our Easter celebrations lots of our children entered an Easter Bonnet competition today.

Class 2 went on a village walk this morning to spot human and physical features in our environment.

Class 3 visited the Harewood Estate on an environmental visit. The class looked for signs of wildlife in spring and did some animal tracking. Thank you John for leading this.
