She also refused to bunk with Andrew, resulting in her getting transferred to a segregated area and being denied medication and clean clothes. How is this allowed to happen???

It’s less about privacy and more about exercising age-appropriate autonomy Imo kids need to be allowed some independence in order to build a sense of agency and self. It’s important to be watchful as a parent, especially in the messy world we live in today, but if all you do is keep your kid inside, fuss over every little detail, and never allow any room for mistakes, they likely WILL try and wriggle out of your tight grip by doing things that might harm them more than going to the movies with their friends ever would.
