Local organizations Matina Community Pantry and Konsyensya Dabaw conducted a relief distribution for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Davao City on Monday, April 6, amid rising petroleum prices that have been affecting their livelihoods. Members of the organizations distributed rice packs to jeepney, taxi, and tricycle drivers to help them cope with the current situation. The aid came from community pantry donations, and the group said it has been receiving messages from individuals who want to join and support the initiative. The group also shared that they will hold a cookout to serve lunch and dinner to some of the PUV drivers. 📸 Matina Community Pantry @ABSCBNNews

Malaysian multinational oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad, or PETRONAS, denied a proposed fuel supply arrangement with a local government unit in the Philippines, saying it is focused on ensuring fuel supply within its own country. The statement came after Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib said on Wednesday that the province is in talks with a representative of the King of Malaysia to purchase about 44 million liters of diesel amid the ongoing oil crisis in the Philippines. 📸 PETRONAS @ABSCBNNews @ANCALERTS

“Hindi ko na iniisip ang impeachment sa panahon ngayon.” Vice President Sara Duterte said she is not focusing on the impeachment cases against her and has left the matter to her legal counsel, after being asked to comment on a petition filed by a group of lawyers seeking a temporary restraining order from the Supreme Court against the impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives. Duterte, who was in Davao City on Saturday for the 89th Araw ng Davao culminating celebration, said she is grateful to independent lawyers who are not part of her defense team but continue to find ways to uphold the Constitution and resist what she described as the “abuse of the impeachment process.” 📹 OVP @ABSCBNNews @ANCALERTS

Walk-only, no floats Over 400 contingents from local government units, educational institutions, organizations, and other sectors participated in the Parada Dabawenyo civic parade on Saturday to culminate the 89th Araw ng Davao. However, this year’s highlight differed from previous years, as it was a “walk-only” parade with no vehicles or floats, amid the current rise in fuel prices. Vice President Sara Duterte also graced the event, which culminates the 89th Araw ng Davao, the city’s founding anniversary celebration, which also marks the 81st birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte. @ABSCBNNews

“I drove the whole day mostly on auto-accept. Passenger after passenger. Traffic, init, long hours.

The Duterte bloc, composed of four lawmakers from Davao City, has filed a resolution in the House of Representatives requesting the reports of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) in its investigation of the multibillion-peso flood control corruption scandal. The resolution was received by the House at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, March 16. It was signed by Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, 2nd District Representative Omar Duterte, and 3rd District Representative Isidro Ungab, as well as Puwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat Party-list Representative Harold Duterte. The lawmakers said the public has the right to know what other discoveries were made in the investigation of the flood control scandal. “To refresh, last 24 September 2025, The House of Representatives suspended the proceedings of the infra-comm and turned over all documents to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. To date, none of the reports of the ICI have been made public. Even worse, the report is for approval of the Office of the President,” the Duterte bloc said in a statement. 📸 Rep. “Marami siyang kakulangan bilang Presidente” Vice President Sara Duterte said on Monday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has many shortcomings as a leader when asked about his failure to show up at the airport to meet overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated amid tensions in the Middle East. “Marami siyang kakulangan bilang Presidente. Hindi lamang sa pagbibigay ng simpatya at empathy sa ating mga kababayan. More than that ay ‘yung problema at iskandalo sa paggamit ng pera ng bayan,” she said in a media interview in Digos City, Davao del Sur. She also told the OFWs to inform the Office of the Vice President, saying they would provide whatever assistance is available. 📹 OVP @ABSCBNNews @ANCALERTS

Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday reacted to the move by the House Committee on Justice to possibly subpoena her income tax return and business records once the impeachment proceedings against her begin. “Kausapin muna nila ng maayos ‘yung mga abogado nila dahil sa nakikita natin ngayon ay ‘yung mga iilan sa mga members of House of Representatives ay inaabuso ‘yung kanilang posisyon at kapangyarihan. More than that, ay lumalabas na para silang mga law benders,” she said in a media interview in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Duterte has not yet confirmed whether her camp will submit a response, even as Monday is the deadline for her to answer the impeachment complaints. “Antayin nalang natin kung magsubmit ako o hindi. Ngayon ang deadline sa pagkakaalam ko,” she said. 📹 OVP @ANCALERTS @ABSCBNNews

Former President and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo urged her colleagues in Congress to handle the impeachment complaint hearings against Vice President Sara Duterte fairly, stressing that impeachment should neither be personal nor political theater. Duterte and Arroyo spoke during the signing of a coffee table book and toured a pop-up exhibit featuring all the vice presidents of the Philippines, marking the 90th anniversary of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) at Abreeza Mall in Davao City on Saturday afternoon. Duterte also joked that the book and the exhibit feature permanent records of the country’s 14 vice presidents, excluding herself, as she is still uncertain about her fate amid the impeachment complaints. “Former President Arroyo is here who is also a former vice president and she is the only person in this room who has held both posts. And I learned from the pop-up exhibit, your father and you are the only two individuals in our country that held both the VP and president positions,” she said. @ABSCBNNews @ANCALERTS

From hatchling to 3 months old The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) shared the growth journey of its newest Philippine eagle chick, named “Bayani,” following the public announcement of the young raptor on Tuesday. The video showed Bayani as a fragile five-day-old chick taking its first sunbath up to seven weeks old, where the young eagle began practicing flapping its wings. “Bayani’s journey reflects the dedication behind our conservation breeding program for the critically endangered Philippine Eagle,” the Philippine Eagle Foundation said in a Facebook post. The name “Bayani,” a Filipino word for hero, was chosen by the chick’s adopter, Procon Grumbach, to celebrate the courage and hope symbolized by every young Philippine eagle. The three-month-old chick is the offspring of Philippine eagles Dakila and Sinag. It was produced through cooperative artificial insemination as part of the foundation’s conservation breeding program. 📹 PEF @ABSCBNNews @ANCALERTS
