Don’t get me wrong, obviously music is subjective, so that accounts for some of the hate I see for Pearl Jam online.
But honestly? It’s jealousy, bitterness. Frustration.
Kurt Cobain’s been dead for three decades. All the other vocalists have left us. Soundgarden and AIC imploded at/near their peaks... And Pearl Jam keeps releasing music and selling out stadiums and getting acclaim from critics.
You can tell me anything you want, but I 100% do not believe that there isn’t a significant factor of jealousy mixed in with the Pearl Jam hate. And to me, that’s a pretty pathetic reason not to like anything.
And I mean, why would anyone care what Kurt Cobain thought about Pearl Jam, anyways? The last time he was able to think/talk about them was 32 years ago. And that’s what some of you are basing your opinions off of? Come on lol and Kurt hated AIC too, so do you hate them as well? So much delusion and misplaced anger.
🚨new episode alert!🚨Jason & Paul welcome music journalist/author @selenafragassi to the show to discuss her new book ‘Pearl Jam Live!’ It chronicles Pearl Jam’s career from the live perspective through a fan’s lens.

Save You, a song about addiction, is partially a refutation of Habit. It focuses on the desire to help, rather than judge, but it is also about the singer's need to assert some kind of control over a situation they feel powerless to affect. #pearljam#iamnoguide#riotact
@IAmNoGuide The most enjoyable book I've ever picked up. Love making notes in the margins and highlighting lyrics. I go back to this book for reference over and over.
Soon Forget's smug bitterness is out of step with Pearl Jam's humanism. But live it is a moment of connection, not critique, becoming a warning from Eddie to himself - to not lose sight of what matters as his journey takes him farther from where he began. #pearljam#iamnoguide👇
