It has been a GREAT #AACRdisp21 conference - where we connect as partners to address all disparities in cancer! Kudos to our scientific director, @MeliD32 and her conference co-chairs and scientific committee for a well-rounded and impactful program!
Melissa B Davis, PhD@MeliD32

In less than 24hrs, we open the #AACRdisp21 meeting! The program is filled with diversity, cutting-edge technology, world-class teams and a momentum to conquer disparities! @AACR has led the way in awareness and support of cancer disparities research. Join us! I can't wait!

In a recent proposal, our team planned an approach to change the culture of bias. Shifting focus from patients to providers. Perhaps to truly be transformative, we have to change the system's lens.

Our most recent international collaboration with @ICSBCS partners in Ethiopia at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Hospital and in Ghana at @komfo_anokye helps to uncover the genetic risk of women across the African Diaspora, including African Americans. @WCM_MeyerCancer @WCMSurgery

Variations in two genes shed light on triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) risk in African American women, according to Dr. Melissa B. Davis (@MeliD32) of @WCMSurgery and a team of investigators from #WCM and @nyphospital. bit.ly/2TI90zi

Our latest research! It is imperative that we identify the genetic risk alleles that are common in all populations. Justice in breast cancer prevention is more than access to screening, but also that screening tools are accurate for all women, regardless of race/ancestry.

Melissa Davis, PhD (@MeliD32) and Lisa Newman, MD recently published in collaboration with @HenryFordNews and @ICSBCS research partners: "Investigation of TNBC risk alleles in an International African-enriched cohort" @SciReports nature.com/articles/s4159…
