How do you spot duplication? What is the best way to deal with it? When is it OK to leave it be? We want your refactoring to be fast and calculated. Let's get started industriallogic.com/blog/spot-and-…

The philosophy of refactoring is tightly wound in the SPOT principle (Single Point of Truth).  Every piece of knowledge must have a single, unambiguous, authoritative representation in a code base. - Dave Thomas & Andy Hunt #agile #programming #agility

“We can refactor later, we’ve got a deadline to hit.” “Let the Tester validate that, we’ve got more stories to code.” “I’ll work through lunch!” Reply with your most common “things that sound faster, but aren’t” 😱 #agileprojectmanagement #agile #devlife

By the time the changes ripple through your organization to the center, it's too late to be proactive. But guess what - the edges of your organization, where it interfaces with the environment, sensed this change ages ago 👵

@rgmcgrath paints an excellent picture here. Huge shifts, or 'inflection points', come from outside your organization. From the environment 🌨️ Whereas the change that needs to take place, starts at the core of your organization.

#Refactoring is best done in small steps 🐛 Take a few seconds to a few minutes to make small quality of life changes to the code you're working on, and forget blocking off days of time to make grand overhauls. #agiletraining #agilemethodologies

@jamesshore puts it well when he says TD is "code that WASTES TIME" He's right. And the solution lies in one simple rule: Always leave code in a better state than when you found it.

#TechnicalDebt is widely misunderstood, so let’s clear things up. What it is not: -Buggy code -Broken/unfinished code What it is: - 'Delicate' code that cannot easily be changed without errors - Code that takes hours to understand - Code that cannot be easily tested

Like anything agile, CP should be an adaptive, ever changing artifact. A big picture understanding of workflow, is enough for a general understanding of the CP, which can and will change over time. Take comfort in some planning, without over-planning. #agile #agilemanagement

Unpopular Idea: If you are running a project, Critical Path is a useful tool, even if you are using Agile practices. The question is: How can we take advantage of CP without falling back into the old, bloated ways of doing things? Easy. We focus on the big picture 🖼️

Our MTP is: "To nurture future leaders that will create inspiring workplaces" ✊ When squaring up an opportunity, we always ask ourselves: Will this help us fulfill our MTP? If not, we can move on. What's your MTP?

You need to find your Massive Transformative Purpose (MTP) 🧭. An MTP is a compass we use to make sure we are spending our time on what matters to us. It's a statement we use as our guide to making the right choices. #mtp #leadership #agile
