✨ What a fantastic evening at the IPA Awards Gala Charity Dinner! 🌟 Last night we were delighted to bring together colleagues, friends and partners from across the #Insolvency profession to celebrate the achievements of this year’s IPA Awards nominees and winners. A huge congratulations once again to all of our winners, Marta Wziatek, Sharon Tyson, @WedlakeBell, Catherine McNeill, Heather Dobson, David Rubin, Nick O'Reilly and Chelsea Burrows. The evening was held in support of our chosen charity @DementiaUK, and we were honoured to be joined by Caroline Scates, Director of Nursing Services at Dementia UK to hear about the amazing work of the charity and how it makes a difference to those affected by dementia. IPA CEO Marcial Boo was delighted to present Caroline with a cheque for £10,000 on behalf of the IPA Board to support the charity’s vital work. We are proud that the profession could come together in aid of such an important cause. ⚠️ Important AML update: Changes to Financial Action Task Force ‘high risk’ countries The Financial Action Task Force (@FATFNews) update their ‘black’ & ‘grey’ lists of countries (those with weak measures to combat #MoneyLaundering and terrorist financing) three times a year. February 2026 saw the latest update of the lists. There is no change to the black-listed countries which remain Iran, Norh Korea and Myanmar. There have been two additions to the grey-list, Kuwait and Papua New Guinea. In any cases where there are dealings with countries in the list, or directors, shareholders or creditors are from a black or grey listed country, this must be treated as high-risk for #AML purposes with Enhanced Due Diligence undertaken to understand and be able to manage any heightened risks effectively. 📖 A new resource for the profession: HMRC Insolvency Practitioner Handbook @HMRCgovuk has launched a new #Insolvency Practitioner Handbook on GOV.UK. You’ll be able to access the guidance you currently find on Insolvency (VAT Notice 700/56) along with related contents, such as HMRC insolvency practitioner bulletins. The order of sections and their content will initially remain unchanged, matching the layout currently found in Insolvency VAT Notice 700/56. The handbook will offer a more streamlined experience, ensuring you have the information you need in one place. The aims are to provide clearer, more accessible guidance in a structured format; improve the customer journey by making information easier to navigate and apply; and support efficient case progression and reduce unnecessary delays. 💬 READ THE IPA'S RESPONSE: HM Treasury Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist-Financing (AML/CTF) Supervision Reform: Duties, Powers and Accountability Consultation The IPA is pleased to share our full response to the @hmtreasury consultation on the duties, powers and responsibilities of @TheFCA as #AML Supervisor. Our key concerns focus on preserving #Insolvency sector specialism and expertise during this transition, establishing effective information-sharing arrangements with the FCA and ensuring that regulatory standards for Insolvency Practitioners are maintained. We have also highlighted concerns regarding the proposed 'fit and proper person' designation and the need for greater clarity on the cost implications for individual practitioners. The IPA welcomes the opportunity to work closely with the FCA to support a smooth transition and to assist in developing sector-specific risk assessments, training and guidance that will continue to assist IPA members.
