Zelensky refuses to give Putin a parade: no ceasefire for May 9
Ukraine will not support the ceasefire announced by Russia for May 9, calling it pointless.
According to Kyiv Independent, citing a senior Ukrainian official, Kyiv sees no value in such pauses.
By 10 a.m. alone, Russia had violated the “silence regime” declared by Zelensky 1,820 times.
During the previous “Easter ceasefire,” there were more than 10,000 violations in just 32 hours.
Ukrainian officials say these pauses don’t work and are used as a formality rather than a real step toward de-escalation.
Zelensky also said Russia is reinforcing Moscow’s air defenses ahead of May 9, redeploying systems from other regions.
He hinted that such movements create “additional opportunities” for long-range strikes.
