This was the actual, official death of Canada. This was the moment we ceased to have any semblance of a country. Don Cherry was a Canadian legend, a household name, someone that every young Canadian grew up watching. He was a professional hockey player, then a coach, but most famously the main personality on Coach's Corner, where he would give commentary on hockey games, mixed in with a few of his own views. He was fired for saying that newcomers to Canada should respect our customs. He spoke brashly and with conviction, as he always did, and he used the phrase "you people" in reference to fresh immigrants, but fundamentally he was fired for trying to enforce adherence to our tradition of honouring our fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day. He suggested that "you people" need to wear poppies as a sign of assimilation, of respect, and of appreciation to the people who sacrificed their lives to build and defend our once great nation. If this man, beloved by so many and for so long, can't ask that Canadian traditions be respected, then no one can. That was the message sent by his firing and humiliation. The government and media wanted all Canadians to know that "we can't expect immigrants to do anything at all when they come here, they must be given free reign to opt out of our society, even as they come here 'for our milk and honey.'" If no one is allowed to defend our culture, then our culture ceases to exist. If we can't hold newcomers to even this most basic standard, wearing a poppy-shaped pin for one day a year, then we can never hope for "assimilation," because there is nothing for anyone to assimilate into. And this is what we have seen since then; newcomers forming their own ethnic enclaves, doing business in their own languages, hiring their own people, bringing their foods and their festivals and their customs with them, never even attempting to understand what Canada is all about. Most don't know a single thing about Canadian history aside from "White people stole the land from natives," and many don't even speak either of our official languages. Why should they? They have their own cultures and enough people to ignore ours. Don Cherry being fired signified the end of any expectation of standards being upheld, and the end of the ability for Canadians to stick up for themselves. Every day since then, multitudes of foreigners have come here, and none of them have ever thought about what it means to be "Canadian," other than to be given a piece of paper from the government. This place and its people have no meaning to them, aside from what we can give them. Unless there are serious changes, and we grow the backbone to stick up for ourselves again, soon, we Canadians will be a minority in our own home, disenfranchised and disempowered, left at the whims of the ungrateful hordes who resent us. This Remembrance Day, wear a poppy with pride, and take note of those who don't. They are not your allies.

@JimMcMurtry01 To be fair, they really only have the one name. If every White person named their son Sean, Sean would still be the number one name. That being said, we gotta kick them all out.

@LorraineZiegler @TheWalkingDet @dubsndoo What are we going to lead? Debt to GDP ratios? Indian immigration? Inflation? Tax rates? Number of terror cells and cartels harboured? Citizens killed by their own government? Please tell me one actual thing Carney has improved, these are the only things that are coming to mind.

@InnerCanada @TheWalkingDet @dubsndoo Wow - you've really gone into the misinformation realm hook, line and sinker. Time for you to find out what is actually happening. And honestly, from what I'm seeing Carney is setting Canada up to be a world leader which can only mean a great future for Canadians.

Canada will collapse into several smaller nations, which will be entirely at the whims of the Americans because they'll all be economically dependent on the US. Some might become states and get outright annexed (voluntarily or not), but each will not have the political unity to stand up to the US in any meaningful way. Canada as it stands is totally dependent on the US, if Canada breaks up all the countries that come out of it will be even more helpless.

@LMegaw @dubsndoo Why? Carney is weakening Canada economically, which is good for Trump. And are you talking about Pierre? Because he really didn't support the convoy until his internal polling told him it was safe to do so, he's a bureaucrats who doesn't care for freedom.

@pennyworth63000 @dubsndoo Why would Trump want to help the conservatives? He wants our country to become a failed state so we can be annexed more easily. The Americans won't have to fire a shot to conquer us, they'll just have to keep our lights on for us.

@InnerCanada @dubsndoo Trump's endorsement was a weak attempt to help the conservatives, in a simple-minded "reverse psychology" way. Trump's endorsement would mean NOTHING to a Liberal voter, and could even reduce Carney's chances - but not enough in the end.

Yeah, tons of positive stuff like destroying our economy irreparably and taxing citizens to death to post foreigners and other countries for no benefit to us. Oh, don't forget all the money he's funneling directly into his investment firm, which owns almost exclusively American assets.

@RyBirdman @LorraineZiegler @TheWalkingDet @dubsndoo Canada is going to be a failed state within the next decade. Providing the USA doesn't collapse, it will take us over. We have too many untouched and valuable resources for them to just let it all go to waste.

@dangill63 @mapleblooded What does this even mean? Are you trying to imply that he is implying there is a "conspiracy" of young people who actually can afford homes but won't settle until they get a McMansion? I'm genuinely confounded by the asininity of this comment.

So tired of hearing this canard. “Young Canadians want houses with an indoor pool and showroom for their cars.” It’s ridiculous.

@SoapBoxGuns I agree with the sentiment, but there's no voting our way out of this mess. Do you really think the Conservatives are going to change anything? Half their party are foreigners, and the other half are traitors who will change teams if they think it will benefit them.

Anyone feel like life is more affordable yet? He spends his whole time talking about how he's reducing taxes and increasing spending. Even if it were true that Canadians have had their tax burden lowered, there is only one outcome to this practice. Deficit spending and inflation. It's not an accident, it's not a byproduct, it's the plan. A plan which the Liberals have been carrying out for 11 years now. Nothing has changed. Nothing WILL change until people vote for something different.

From day one, we’ve been focused on making your life more affordable.

@TheWalkingDet @dubsndoo Didn't know that, interesting. From his interview on Tucker Carlson, I got the impression he wasn't a big fan of Clinton. Times change though.

@AlbertaLeonidas Actually most of the jobs AI will replace are white collar. Until someone can make robots that cost less than paying 40% of minimum wage, there is simply no incentive not to hire Indians.

The jobs that will be replaced by automation and AI are the jobs that only low iq immigrants can do, so they set the west up to be briefly a mass welfare state but that will fail, then the violence begins

@papajeff71 Look at it this way. It works for me. My ancestors came to AB in 1899 to live north of Lougheed in an actual hole in the ground for 12 yrs as they created a farm. Compared to that anything is easy. Nothing I/you will ever do is harder. Keep working at it and you'll figure it out.

I'll use this comment section to answer. Conservative voters want Canada to have some kind of a semblance of a path forwards. One that does not involve printing infinite money, sending infinite money overseas, giving infinite money to foreigners within our borders, taxing our own citizens to death, offshoring our industries, and creating a permanent underclass of people who will never be able to own property. Where I differ from most Conservative voters is that I can see that these meagre demands don't go nearly far enough, and that our whole system needs to come undone for anything to improve. Incremental changes in policy that can be overruled as soon as power changes hands are not going to save us from the abyss, the only solution is radical change. The Liberals have implemented radical changes to every facet of our once proud nation, and the best that people like Pierre Poilievre can come up with is just "maybe we could perhaps slow things down a bit so they don't get as bad so quickly." You don't defeat a hydra by chopping one head off at a time and hoping it goes away.

Abortion is wrong no matter what, but especially *AFTER* you already have a child, why would you kill another child? Finances are the main reason for abortion, but you were able to make it work financially for one, that means hand-me-downs, shared toys, etc, the only cost that goes up is food, everything else comes down or stays the same, and kids don't eat that much food until they hit puberty.
