I'm only going to say this once...but things are getting out of hand lately with some things and I felt the need to address them: First, on X you are following me the personality, not necessarily EPAWA. Although I represent EPAWA, at times I try to make this as mutually exclusive as possible. So personal opinions... are my opinions. 2nd, I have a lot of people telling me what I can and cannot say on here. I am not subject to policing of any kind. Absolutely not. I am a veteran of the military and won't be told what to say or do with my commentary. If I did, I would have stayed in the military. You don't have to like it or agree, but if it bothers you that much, unfollow. 3rd, there's been an alarming number of enthusiasts on this platform telling me and other meteorologists they are "wrong" because we're not saying what they want to hear. It has gotten to the point where they think it's ok to be downright disrespectful and nasty to those that are considered experts, sometimes from teenagers. I have a zero tolerance policy for bullet points numbers 2 and 3... you get a warning, and then you're blocked. Again, this is my personal account, and I won't be silenced or disrespected. Do so and you're out.

@leinin1914 I used to play a lot of board games similar to the ones you have here! I also have had a hard time finding people to consistently play with. TI is such a dense game, I have not really played it in its entirety.

Chpt 4 discusses the false narrative that SM and technology are responsible for boredom, which is a rather limiting view. She argues that boredom is not a "negative" feeling or experience, but can "yield surprising outcomes" (138). #writ674mu

rhetorical theory should not only consider the foundational rhetorical devices and "triangle" but include and be aware of the affective responses from its audience, as this is the direct consequences of rhetoric - affect from audience #writ674mu

@leinin1914 noticing the privileged of this affective moment is a great perspective, not everyone has this ability - I wonder if some cultures or societies have never felt "boredom" the way the 21st century has allowed for more down time and more distractions #writ674mu

@npfannen Yes! One of the chapters talked about attention span. If it’s not short and to the point, many will just scroll right on past without a second thought. I see this in the classroom too sometimes with novels. They just want to KNOW what happened and move on #writ674mu

TD3 (L3): I think addiction helps understand "the news cycle" because we were getting small snippets regarding what was happening with the Titan constantly on news channels intermixed with conspiracy & regular theories through SM platforms. #writ674mu

also, I noticed SM platforms were adopting some of the "addicting" news cycle trends such as using catchy and click-bait style headlines, i.e. on Snapchat, urging users to click on a "limited" story that "you won't want to miss..." #writ674mu

@leinin1914 great point - I think the new "BeReal" app is creating a space for this authenticity and almost introspective opportunity. Do you find that SM has created a space for less and less introspection and more and more self inflation/infatuation? #writ674mu

@leinin1914 SM can certainly remove agency, if you are dependent on it, in a negative way. And also, SM can further enchantment - lots of great resources and connections to be had via SM - again, the idea of pharmakon coming back into play #writ674mu

@EngTeachVibes When I teach my digital media unit to the 12th graders, we talk about screen time and I have them do their own "internetting log" - creates great convo around why and when we use SM and if it is helping or hindering us, it is all dependent on the person and the intent #writ674mu

TD1 (L3): For SM users, this could look like actually looking at & analyzing SM use to find trends of use, reasons spent on SM, why choose SM over any other option, & learning how to combat our on use head-on instead of hiding behind another post continuing the cycle. #writ674mu
