I'm sure that it's mostly due to the algo reacting to one of my recent, popular posts - but I'm genuinely happy to see the recent and deserved praise for Speed Racer online. What a great film.

One of my favorite aspects of Speed Racer's writing and acting is a testament to the world building. They manage to have the actors say the most ridiculous things, but they're said with such sincerity that your brain just accepts it at first pass.

I drove over an hour because there were no showings close by. I have to be at work early in the morning and I won't get back home until 1:30 am. I likely won't get a chance to sleep until tomorrow evening. But it's worth it.

@kevinbolk The longer time goes on, the more you realize that Bill Watterson was right.

I used to think (with a few notable exceptions) it was just clout-chasing creators with bad attitudes attracting these kinds of fans or thin-skinned crybullies deliberately antagonizing the established fanbase, but seeing the way Toby Fox, gooseworx, and a lot of Japanese artists have been treated lately, I don’t blame anyone for wanting insulate themselves from casual fan interaction going forward. Sucks that a few loud obnoxious bad apples spoil the whole bunch, but it is what it is.
