Rory, I'm a governor at Eldon dealing with the aftermath of harm @Ofstednews HMIs have done to our staff and school. You tell @AnnaFazack1 @ObserverUK Ofsted have made 'every effort to ensure leaders were supported'. This sounds good except it isn't true. I'm sharing 2 emails for @martynoliver @bphillipsonMP @educationgovuk to see why Ofsted's quote is simply an attempt to hide its failings and protect its reputation instead of caring about the repercussions of its actions on real people. The first email is from my chair of governors pleading with Ofsted to pause publication of its report in the morning because risk assessments and wellbeing support for distressed staff are not yet in place. The chair got no acknowledgement or action in response. The second email is a glib response from Ofsted one hour after publishing the report. It completely ignores the concerns for staff wellbeing, makes no apology for not pausing the report, and it then states Ofsted has published the report so its statutory duties have come to an end. Ofsted's director advises our chair to take his concerns elsewhere! How is this evidence of Ofsted being caring, compassionate or supportive after causing Ruth Perry's death by suicide? Truth is, Ofsted didn't do its job fairly in the case of Eldon's inspection (HMIs retro-fitted evidence to fit their judgment), and someone involved in the inspection disgracefully said our school staff 'played the mental health card!' There are so many more points I could make to show how divorced Ofsted is from its duty of care to staff in schools, but I think I've made my point.
