So, for MO fall sports we have 8-15 football coaches, 3-4 softball coaches, 3-4 volleyball coaches, 3-4 soccer coaches, and 3-4 cross country coaches for a rough estimate of 250-300 student athletes. For those same athletes, we have 1 (maybe 2 if lucky) athletic trainer. That AT almost always is paid less than an assistant coach annually, but has a masters degree and healthcare license. Tell me again why funding for ATs is being cut. I’m more than happy to listen. Nation wide, we have seen more student athlete deaths this year already than normal yearly averages in the fall.
