No matter how well-written your series is, if it’s not visually appealing, it won’t capture as much attention. It can even be average and still be loved just because of its visuals. This is something the Japanese have understood perfectly, while the West has fallen way behind in 2D animation. They prefer to spend the entire budget on voice actors instead of delivering the best possible visual quality.
