The facts matter. The people matter. The Senate’s Medicaid approach breaks promises and will kick people off of Medicaid who truly need it. The Senate can make one simple fix to make sure that won’t happen.

@Theholisticpsyc @sbkaufman Agreed, but there’s a trend amongst teens/young adults to label every bad thing as trauma, which discounts many instances of real trauma that people face. In either case, it’s true that self-regulation and emotional agility are key to growth and overcoming adversity.

@sbkaufman A person can have trauma and take responsibility and move forward with agency and intention. This is the basis of healing— to heal the past and create a new future.

Not everything is the result of trauma. I'm noticing this odd trend for every single uncomfortable emotion, anger reaction, and personal failing to be attributed to trauma. This strips the human of the capacity to take responsibility and move forward with intention and agency.

@MaraGay Saw your piece on swimming on @Morning_Joe … FYI, @UNC (Chapel Hill) my alma mater had a required swim test for graduation, until 2006 when faculty voted to drop it. Public school credit with municipal pool partnership is a possible pathway.

@scontrerasPhD She has the cutest smile! It always bothers me how girls feel they judge themselves against a socially contrived, often filtered image. My own daughter said the same thing (about covering her smile). We have to better as a society.

I met one of my fifth-graders in the store yesterday. She shared that she keeps her smile covered because she didn't think it was pretty. Oh how very wrong she is! Absolute beauty--inside and out! Cherry on top: she's an honor student! #SmartGirlsRock

@tgrierhisd When states and districts invest that $ into additional positions rather than additional programs, we can see more ROI. (I.e intervention teachers, teachers to lower class size, impact tutors, Instructional Assistants at every grade level k-5, EC assistants, etc).

Since March 2020, the federal government has provided $190 billion in pandemic aid to schools, an amount that is more than four times what the U.S. Education Department spends on K-12 schools in a typical year. What is going to be our academic return in investment?
