@JamieWhistle @JamieWhistle but where do we as parents go now? Our children have been told they are right (born in wrong body) and we are wrong (bcos we are bigots). In 9 yrs we have never been able to access non affirming therapy for our daughter in the UK. She is more entrenched than ever.

As I saw in the pediatric gender center- a significant number of my patients did not improve at all- their physical health declined and their mental health tanked.

Just 2 years after adopting the Dutch Protocol, Finnish clinicians noted the treatment wasn't delivering on its promise. In 2015, they published "Overrepresentation of natal girls with severe problems in adolescent development.” New Finnish research validates those concerns.

@QcWynter Thing is the belief is so deeply entrenched, that parents who do not want to go down this line are facing HUGE backlash from their children/young adults over this. There is NOWHERE in the system to take them to receive non affirming, reasoned therapy. Nowhere.

Those who encouraged children, especially their own children, to play Frankenstein with their immutable sex characteristics will absolutely need, for existential reasons (as described by Helen Joyce), to find fault, very serious fault with the Finnish study.

@QcWynter If my daughter is anything to go by it’s by accusing her dad and me of being transphobic bigots who will not affirm her ‘identity’ and whose refusal to fast track her for surgery and ‘love and accept her unconditionally’ (with that surgery) is gut wrenchingly evil.

@SwipeWright As the parent of a near 21 yo female who is dead set on surgery in the UK and refuses to contemplate that she has a MH issue because the medical establishment as colluded in this - what the hell am I supposed to do? Who do we turn to and who is supposed to help her?

It's not enough to eventually win this debate after many years of fighting for the principles of evidence-based medicine in "gender-affirming care."
We must fix the system that was able to severely limit reasonable dissent from appearing in the academic record.

A father has launched proceedings against Brighton & Hove for its daft as a brush policy of allowing any boy who says he is a "girl" licence to wander at will into girls' toilets/changing rooms in one of its schools.
Outcome seems inevitable but dad has had to sue to establish.

@ClownWorldYT1 Isn’t it illegal to impose a different method of cancelling a contract to that used to create it? Ie, if you have contracted online, you should be able to cancel online? Quite a few magazine/subscriptions also do this, meaning if you are busy there are obstacles to cancellation?

Given their position as surgeons, the ASPS offer no official guidance on puberty blockers, but noted the "substantial uncertainty" regarding their long-term benefits and potential harms. This is HUGE news, and I hope other medical organizations take note and follow the evidence.
