The fact that CS Interior @kipmurkomen is yet to declare tomorrow a public holiday or at least issue a circular allowing employees nationwide to don Manchester United jerseys makes me question where this country is headed😂

On this somber morning, my thoughts turn to honour the late Engineer Cyrus Jirongo, a man whose political journey I observed for decades.
The news of his death hit hard and my thoughts are with his children, his entire family, and everyone in Lugari who trusted him with their hopes.
In the complex landscape of Kenyan politics, losing someone who has been a part of it for decades leaves a hollow space. I've watched Cyrus navigate its waters for most of my adult life. When he burst onto the scene with YK'92, he was electric; a young man who understood that politics is about movement, about getting people to believe. Anyone who has spent time in the political arena knew his unmistakable presence: that booming voice, that unshakable confidence, that refusal to fade quietly when the spotlight moved elsewhere.
What always intrigued me was his resilience. Political losses that would devastate others seemed only to fuel him, convinced he had something more to give to Kenya. And through it all, Cyrus spoke openly about his family, his traditions, and his roots in Western Kenya. He remained recognizably himself: loud, passionate, and unfiltered.
His years representing the people of Lugari and his work on rural development truly mattered. These were not just titles to him. He understood viscerally what it meant when roads went unpaved, when villages lacked water, and when rural communities felt forgotten. Losing him this way, so abruptly and so violently, compounds the tragedy.
We pray that God grants him eternal peace and comforts his grieving family, the community of Western Kenya, and all of Kenya. Rest well, Cyrus. Though your voice is stilled, the mark you left remains.

I'm shocked by the loss of Cyrus Jirongo, the former Lugari MP, a true giant who left a lasting legacy in the country. Hon. Jirongo was my former Boss, and I had the privilege of working closely with him for 3 and a half years, from 2009 to mid-2012, as his trusted assistant, where I witnessed firsthand his dedication, passion, and kindness.
One thing that stood out about Jirongo was his ability to sell hope to us. Even when he had no money, he would tell you that you'll get money in the next one hour. Jirongo would confidently tell us that we'd solve the money problem, with such conviction that you'd believe it was already done.
He was a true leader who defied conventions and inspired those around him. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this time of mourning. Rest in peace my good friend Jirongo
