As the digging continues… Erie County has 22 departments, each led by a Director or Commissioner.
I reviewed political contributions from just 10 of those senior officials to @markpoloncarz 's campaign - less than half of department heads and excluding assistant commissioners, assistant directors, and other county employees.
From those 10 individuals alone, MORE THAN $67,000 was personally donated.
Who contributed:
Karen Rybicki (Social Services) – $4,198
Michelle Olszowy (Probation) – $9,770
Sarah Bonk (Mental Health) – $425
Dr. Gale Burstein (Also known as Dr. Overtime) (Health) – $14,749
Frank Cammarata (OPD) – $2,125
Angela Marinucci (Senior Services AND current Amherst Town Councilmember) – $4,475
Karen King (Advocacy) – $1,148
Vallie Ferraraccio (Purchasing) – $16,759
Jennifer Hibit (Former Chief of Staff to Mark Poloncarz) – $4,433.67
Mike & Julie Szukala (Medicaid Inspector General AND current Amherst Town Councilmember) – $9,804.94
Wouldn’t this present a significant conflict of interest when it comes to oversight and accountability? 🧐
