Is’t possible that the contract w/ Imu makes the HK’s hearts mechanic, making them inhuman (sorta like cyborgs). Especially considering Franky’s line later on. That might be it. Imu replaces your heart and gives you a mechanical never stopping heart. They sold away their hearts
