Disciplinary writing in History 1. Ensuring all colleagues have a shared understanding of what this means - no assumptions. “Real schools need real decisions s drive by real people who all agree on what the word they use means. In reality. Everyday” (Sparkes,Thompson) 1/7

Hi! This is a long-shot, I have been unable to find a second school placement (3 weeks, 30 hours solo teaching in History KS3/KS4) due to schools having prior commitments. Does anyone know of somewhere (ideally near Barnard Castle) that would kindly take me in? #SSP #Placement

👸👸👸 Six (Teen Edition) 👸👸👸 🤩 WHAT. AN. OPENING. NIGHT! 💃 Barney’s ‘Queens’ and ‘Ladies in waiting’ were simply BRILLIANT as they recreated ‘Her-story’! 👏 Well done to everyone involved, and all the very best for the remainder of this week’s AMAZING production!

As a department we’ve moved starters/recall activities to packs at KS3. All scoring tasks are recorded/reflected upon by students/teachers. There’s been notable benefits to this approach, e.g. a stronger recall culture, consistency across classes, less printing. #historyteacher

I really like the 'one pagers' from @XpatEducator so I am pleased there is a book of one pager to be published with @JohnCattEd with @MrGoodwin23 as co-author 👏👍

With Summer on the horizon, there’s no better time than to recommend ‘Going Above and Beyond’ reading to GCSE historians in Y9/10 as preparation for next year. @hrcastor Elizabeth I and @daniellee550 The SS Officer’s Armchair being real highlights. #historyteacher

Round about now when many ECT’s begin to think about the year ahead. Hopefully this thread will offer some simple advice to keep in mind and useful tips for the crucial elements of our practice. 🧵#historyteacher docs.google.com/file/d/1QJQ98g…

Nearing the finish line and needing a recall task that is quick/effective/accessible, I can’t recommend ‘highlighter heads’ enough. Simple but can be adapted to stretch/challenge or build confidence. It’s become a stalwart from KS3-5. #historyteacher docs.google.com/file/d/1xzIqEe…

It’s impossible to cover everything in the David Olusoga inspired unit. Therefore, we use a timeline as an overview of the century. The pupils identify if the event impacted on the people socially, politically, economically, etc… #historyteacher

One of the bits of CPD this year which has had the most positive feedback is our T and L briefings where each week I remind staff of one strategy which feeds into our Great Teaching principles. None of these are my own ideas but I add any I hear in podcasts or in my reading 1/
